Colorescience Lip Polish

The Colorescience Lip Polish is perhaps the most misleadingly named product I've ever come across. One can reasonably expect that something named "lip polish" will give gloss and shine, but that's not the case with this one from Colorescience. The finish is matte, and it's unlike any gloss - or lip product, for that matter - that I've tried.

Instead, I'd say that this is the best lip stain ever. It sticks like no one's business; at times I like to think of it as a semi-permanent lip tattoo. Okay now that's just a hyperbole, but I want to give you guys an idea of the level it performs.

The texture of the lip product itself is not waxy like lipstick, tacky like gloss, or watery/gel-like like your normal lip stain. Instead, it's oily. Yes, oily. That's what it will feel like on your lips when you apply it, but later on it will turn a bit sticky.

The color on the tube looks like a dark berry red, but when applied, it's a very natural red-pink. As the day goes by, it becomes a pretty coral pink on me. It fades evenly, and it will stick even if you eat or drink. This is the longest lasting lip color I've tried to date. I'd peg it at 8 hours without needing to retouch.

It's a bit drying so I suggest applying a balm as soon as it's completely dry. The product description says that it can make your lips look fuller, and I agree. I've noticed that it makes my lips look plumper.

Colorescience Lip Polish in Seduction

Intriguing product no? It's amazing, but it's rather expensive at P1,350 for a small 3.75 ml tube. In fairness, it takes only one dip into the tube to shade the lips, but still, the price is still hefty for the amount you get. If you're a fan of lip stains or if you need a lip product you can rely on all day, I suggest getting this one.

Let's run through the pros and cons.

Why I love the product:

  • Pigmented
  • Extremely long-lasting
  • Wear comfortably
  • Nice shade
  • Economical to use
  • Has a nice minty sting (my personal preference)

What I don't like about the product:

  • Expensive for the amount you get

So, what do you think? Does this look like something you'll try? Colorescience is available in selected SM Department Stores. You can also find the brand in House of Obagi branches. There's one in Greenbelt 5.
