Avon Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation

The Avon Ideal Shade Liquid Foundation (P530) came in a gift pack along with other makeup and skincare products from the brand. I didn't expect much from it because, well, I got this idea that Avon makeup is just "okay" (not counting the lipsticks, which I have raved about before) - nothing to write home about. To begin with, it's hard to ask a lot for the price.

Nonetheless I am surprised. The foundation gives a really beautiful finish that instantly enhances the skin and I have pictures to prove it! I haven't worn it out though because the shade (Natural) is rather light on me so I can't tell you about the lasting power. What I'll just talk about is the texture, consistency, and finish.

The Ideal Shade foundation is marketed to have light-adjusting pigments that provide a good shade match and natural coverage. I suppose that's true, because even though the foundation color itself is really light, it manages to somehow blend on my darker skintone without looking ghastly. Still, it's not my perfect shade match since it's beige. I prefer yellow-toned foundations.

The consistency is watery but the texture is creamy without the heaviness. It blends in effortlessly. I used a stippling brush from Charm to work it on my skin. Here's how it went:

Dotted it on with cotton buds. I prefer doing this to get even coverage. It ensures that big drops of foundation don't stick to the brush.

See the transformation?

I love how this medium-coverage foundation gives a very natural finish while covering up blemishes easily. Of course the darker ones are still visible, but the lighters ones seem to disappear.

I only have one complaint: the open bottle. It would have been more convenient for users to have a pump with the liquid foundation, hay.

A short run-down of the pros and cons of this product:

What I love about it

  • Gives a beautiful, natural finish
  • Good coverage
  • Has SPF10
  • Oil free and supposedly non-comedogenic
  • Affordable at only P530 per 30ml bottle.

What I don't like

  • Open-lipped bottle makes it difficult to get the product. Also not sanitary.
  • I would appreciate an ingredient list.

No comment on:

  • If it broke me out. I only used this on my face a couple of times, and only for short periods. Didn't notice anything.
  • Lasting power and oil control.

Overall, this is a very interesting foundation that does a great job of enhancing the skin. I suggest you try it if you're looking for something affordable yet with a finish at par with expensive foundations like NARS and Clinique.

So, what do you think? Does this look like something you will try? Answer in the comments!
