Tutorial: MAC Peacocky look
Peacocky is the latest MAC collection to hit Philippine shores. It's inspired by the gorgeous and fierce colors of one of nature's most magnificent birds. Aside from the unique color story, what's different about this collection is the release of the Mega Metal Eyeshadows (P1,175), a step up the usual MAC eyeshadows when it comes to pigmentation, texture, and even the size of the pan (they're larger). Another new release is the Kissable Lipcolor (P1,150), a gloss-cum-lipstick that will impress you with the pigmentation! It's as good as liquid lipstick and comes in bigger tubes.
I asked MAC if they can demonstrate how to do a Peacocky look, so here's what makeup artist Mikee Raymundo came up with! This look is perfect for evenings out with your friends or when you're going to a special event with a compulsion to wow. Here's a step-by-step photo coverage of the look.
Before: Say hi to Angela!
After
Mikee priming the canvas (Lip Conditioner + Fast Response Eye Cream + Prep+Prime Skin)
Applying the Studiofix Fluid foundation in NC25
Setting everything with loose powder using the 187 stippling brush. Mikee also used the Mineralized Skinfinish powder to give Angela that glowy, natural skin
Everything is all set up!
Mikee used an angled brush to contour. Instead of using the usual blush or contouring powder, she used the MAC MSF in a dark shade (Medium Deep) to contour. She says that it looks more natural than pigmented blushes. You'll get more control as you layer!
From the ears, contour the hollows of your cheeks in a downward motion
Voila! Apply blush on the apples of the cheeks
Mikee loves using the Spiked pencil on the eyebrows plus the Wedge eyeshadow to even out harsh lines
Preview cover-worthy eyebrows!
The Scandelicious Kissable Lipcolor is a beautiful raspberry shade that really pops
Mikke applied the Peek At You Mega Metal Eyeshadow ( a frosted yellow white) all over the lid

She then layered Tweet Me (a gold bronze) all over the lid

Noir Plum (true purple with silver pearl) is applied on the outer V of the eyes

Odelisk (deep teal) is gently patted on the inner corner, not more than 1/3 of the lid
To blend in the different colors, Mikee used Sexpectations (metallic burgundy) on Angela's crease

A bit of Noir Plum is applied on the lower lid
Mikee then used a pencil liner called Engraved on Angela's waterline
My favorite, the MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack, is used to line the upper lash lines
A bit of curl...
...then mascara (Opulash)
...and Angela's all glammed up for a night of partying!
Soo, what do you think of the look? I loved that I learned a new technique - applying a dark eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eyes. I always thought dark eyeshadows will look good only in creases and outer vees, but I'm wrong! I'd like to try that out for myself.
If you're not too keen on loud makeup, you can always just stop with a striking lip color such as Scandelicious. I think it's flattering on most skintones and has that unmistakable "x" factor. For eyeshadows, I really liked Tweet Me - both the name and the very wearable color! These two are definitely must-haves in the collection.
I invite you all to check out MAC Peacocky in the MAC counter near you! :)
