FOTD: Unapologetically purple

I've done quite a few looks in the past, but I think this purple eyeshadow confection is my favorite yet. This deep-socketed, sunken eye look gives the face a sense of drama and mystery without looking overdone, methinks.

For this look, I used the Lancome Teint Miracle + Benefit Watts Up highlighter to get luminous skin. I did my eyebrows using the Benefit Brow Zings, contoured with the NARS Laguna Bronzer, and blushed with Benefit Hervana. And now, for the eyes!

Step 1: Apply an eyeshadow primer like the MAC Prep + Prime Eye Base. Then, apply a matte purple like Allure from the Sigma Flare Eyeshadow Palette on your lids.

Step 2: Apply a dark, plummy purple (like Gossip) on the crease/ socketline of your eyes. Blend. In case you don't know where your crease is, just trace the mound of your eyeballs, like so:

You can wing the dark eyeshadow outwards from the outer V of your lid. Blend!

Step 3: With a flat smudge brush, add the same dark purple eyeshadow on your lower lid, all the way to your tear duct area. This gives the illusion of sunken eyes.

Step 4: Apply a thick layer of volumizing mascara or falsies on your lashes. I opted not to wear eyeliner here to get a sort of undone look to the eyes. If you like eyeliner though, just apply a really thin line.

And voila! Done! I played around with three different lipsticks here, just to see what they look like...

Exhibit one: nude lipstick, VMV Velvet Matte Lipstick in Kitten

Exhibit two: Pale lilac lipstick, NYX Round Lipstick in Power (I know, looks funny!)

Exhibit three: Rose pink lipstick, L'Oreal Color Riche Nutri Shine Lipstick in Rose Guava

And that's it! Hope you find this tutorial useful. :)
