Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick + Creme swatches
Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipsticks (P450) never let me down. Ever. They have a rich, moisturizing texture, a full-bodied cream finish, and awesome pigmentation to top it off! I'll say it - they can rival high-end lipsticks from MAC, Makeup Forever, and other expensive brands.
Just remember to wear lip balm beforehand because they dry up pretty quickly (2 hours) although the color stays on.
On to the swatches! Cherries in the Snow is a fantastic, complex color. It's a bright blue-based red that looks like fuchsia on me in certain lighting. From what I understand, Cherries is a classic Revlon lipstick that was launched in 1953. Dorian Leigh, one of the world's first supermodels, wore it in an iconic ad. This is in the same cult level as Fire & Ice. Smashing!
The ultimate 50s red
Pink in the Afternoon is one of those shades that are universally loved. It's got a 4.2/5 rating at Makeupalleyafter 159 reviews! That's quite an achievement. It's a creamy warm-toned pink that can be worn with literally anything. I wont say it's an MLBB because it doesn't have a lot of brown in it; it's just a great pink that doesn't clash with skin, whether it's fair or dark.
I would call it a prettifying lipstick - we all need one in our kit. :)
I also recently got to try the Revlon Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick (P575). It didn't knock my socks off, but it might be because I've been hounded by flaky lips these past few weeks! It's weird because my lips aren't dry to begin with. They just roll off in fine flakes.
Anyway, I like the smooth texture and pigmentation of the Revlon mattes. It looks nice when layered but if you have flaky lips, well, you should skip it. They're also not for lips with darker rims because they might not adhere properly.
I have Pink Pout, a blue-based baby pink that looks lavender on my medium yellow skintone. It's a dupe of the Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Matte Lipstick in M PK 335! They're almost the same except Shu has a better texture (it's silicone-based) and lasting power, but hey, I suppose that's where the extra ~P800 went.
As with Shu's PK 335, Pink Pout is better worn with dark eye makeup so that it won't wash out morena skin. Black or purple eyeshadow and pink blushes will make it appear pinker, more alive. Lovely color! Very Nicki Minaj.
Smoky Peach is a peachy nude that's oddly not that matte; it has a bit of satin finish. It's not as richly pigmented as Pink Pout, so if you have pigmented lips, this may look streaky even with multiple layers.
Not something I would recommend you use without a lip base/primer to blot out the color of your lips and fill in cracks.
