BB Cream Week: Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF35 PA+++
Have BB creams gone the way of the dinosaurs? Certainly not. BB creams are here to stay no matter how many alphabet creams come after. It revolutionized the way everyday makeup should be, with its thinner texture, skin-friendly ingredients, and high SPF protection. Think about the options we had before BB creams came. This type of makeup opened up a whole dam of possibilities!
This week, I'll be talking about some of the newer BB creams I have in my kit. :) Let's begin with the best one I've tried to date: the Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF35 PA+++ (P2,000+).
Yes, you heard it right - this is my new favorite! The best thing about it is that it comes in five shades* that are yellow-toned and works best with our Asian skin. You never have to worry if your face flashes gray or beige (a chronic problem with BBs); you can easily find a perfect match! I have yet to see a locally available BB cream with a better shade selection that this one.
Texture, coverage, and finish. The Bobbi Brown BB cream has a light yet creamy texture that would suit dry to combination skin best. It has a dewy, illuminating finish that looks like second skin - a trademark characteristic of all Bobbi face bases. Coverage is sheer but can be layered up to medium. It looks really beautiful when worn!
This amount should be enough for half the face

Wear time. The staying power is pretty good at about 6-8 hours, even more as long as I set it with an oil-absorbing powder and retouch it throughout the day. This isn't a long-wearing BB cream per se, due to its emollient texture, but it stays on my skin for as long as I need it. I've worn it all day several times and didn't see any ugly fading as long as I retouch with my powder
Wearing the Bobbi Brown BB Cream here with my usual setting powder (Snoe Poudre Extraordinaire). I didn't use any illuminator or finishing powder!
Skincare benefis. Another thing I love about it: it hydrates my skin. I usually just use the Shiseido Ibuki softener before my makeup since I dislike the icky feeling of heavy moisturizer during the day. The downside is that the softener isn't enough to totally hydrate, which is where hydrating BB creams like this come in handy. My skin looks so nice after I wash it off. This BB cream is supposed to have botanical extracts and caffeine for discoloration, peptides and antioxidants for wrinkles, and broad spectrum sun protection.
Recommendations. I highly recommend the Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF35 PA+++ to anyone who wants a base that looks like a better, healthier version of your skin. This is perfect for you if you have dry to combination skin. If you're oily, this might slide off too quickly so it's best to stick with long-wearing products.
Verdict. I love it! This is my current HG BB cream, replacing the Fairydrops Candy Bar BB Cream. Fairydrops is great but compared to Bobbi Brown that looks a tiny bit gray on me. I'd still be using it when I want something more reliable though!
Please do read my top five BB creams list to see the products I loved in the recent past. What do you think? Are you still loyal to BB creams now that there are CC creams et al?
*This BB cream is actually available in nine shades, but I believe only five are available locally, the ones that suit our color range. :)
