New brand alert: Too Cool For School

Hi folks! I was in Mall of Asia yesterday to watch Iron Man 3 on IMAX. I enjoyed the film! There were some cheesy parts but hey, it was funny and heart-stopping anyway. The third installment of the franchise showed a broken Tony Stark after New York (it's a direct sequel of sorts to Avengers). He can't sleep, he gets anxiety attacks, and on top of that he decided to challenge a terrorist called the Mandarin. All hell breaks loose as Tony finds himself on the run, fighting for his life - and his future with Pepper.

But I digress. :P What I really want to talk about is Too Cool For School, the latest Korean beauty brand to hit Manila! I was invited to the press launch last week but wasn't able to make it, unfortunately. I took the first chance I had to visit it yesterday while waiting for Iron Man 3 to start.

Now we're talking: a 3D pop-up of dinosaurs crossing a city

Multi-color Paint (P675)

So yes, the first and so far only store of TCFS is in Mall of Asia. It's on the second floor, a little ways across the stand-alone store of Etude House there (SM Department Store side). The brand is quite quirky and rather heavy-handed with the dino imagery - just the sort of thing I fall for! The products are quite promising with fairly affordable price points, with about P400-P600 as the average amount you should expect to shell out for per piece. There's nothing over P1,300!

Too Cool For Skin BB Foundation Lunch Box SPF37 (around P900 if I remember correctly)

Pull-out lipsticks are at P715. Already pricey for a lipstick but the packaging - whoa

As you can see, everything is beautifully packaged. It's not cheeky-sexy-chic like Benefit or princess-cute like Etude House; it has a hipster, I-live-in-my-own-imaginary-world vibe. And I love it. I mean seriously, decapitated dinosaurs? Mascaras packaged in a box shaped like a skyscraper? Why the heck not.

Pressed powders

What's up with 1-day tattoo eyeliners? There's also an eyebrow pen. Around P470 per piece

I saw about three or four BB cream varieties at TCFS. The texture and pigmentation look nice on a hand swatch, but the shades are too limited - exactly one per variant, as a matter of fact. They are too light for morena skin so I hope the brand brings in more shade options in the future.

Multi-purpose balm (the purposes of which I have not yet divined) and a Marshmallow Puff (P279), which is another Beauty Blender hack. Bought that one!

Tinted eyeshadow primers called The Dino Platz Eyeshadow on Flatiron. It comes in this twinkly translucent shade and another in gold. I like!

Too Cool Art Class Blusher. These are pretty good, they come in Pink and Peach. Around P400+

Flatiron primers on top; Multi-Color Paints (red and peach) bottom

The tinted balms. I think this has three other shades available.

Brushes. Quality is average.

False lashes for only P195

Solid perfume in a cute tin case. P819

Rules of Pore mud pack. Inside you'll find green chalky tablets that you need to mix and crush with water before application.

Makeup remover wipes

So there you go! I didn't buy any of the color cosmetics (I know, boring) because I have a lot of new things yet to be reviewed. I did get the Marshmallow Puff (P279) though because I've always wanted to try that sponge shape, the makeup remover wipes (which were P555 for 70 pulls), and a jumbo pencil sharpener (incidentally fits my NARS lip pencils). I got a free box of samples - yay! - that I actually want to use.

We'll see! I'm definitely coming back when I get the chance, maybe for the Multi-Color Paint (red one), a balm just because of the packaging, and the tube blush in Peach. <3

What do you want to try? Have you visited yet/ tried the brand from Korea? Share!
