It's a Blushin' Week at Project Vanity: My top five blushes
Since I got a lot of positive feedback regarding my first themed week, I thought I'd continue it with a new series about - guess - blushes! Every girl needs a flattering blush to make her complexion look brighter and more alive. This week, I'm going to talk about some of the latest, most exciting blushes I've come across, and hopefully I can help you find your new cheeky best friend.
To kick the series off, I'm going to start with a list of my five favorite blushes (not including the NARS Super Orgasm because it's such a cop out to do so). These are the blushes I always pick up because their color works perfectly with my skintone and I can rely on them to stay put for a decent amount of time. They're also versatile, delicately nuanced shades, which means that I can easily pair them with most looks I can think of. ;)
Okay enough yapping, here's the list!
The Benefit Hervana Blush: Your perfect pink-peach, aside from the NARS Super Orgasm, will always be one of my favorite brushes. Forever, at this rate! It's muted mauve, peach, and pink combination makes me look healthy and not shiny at all. Oh I love shine and shimmer, but Hervana keeps me in perspective.
It does need a bit of layering but the results will compensate you for the trouble. Love the barely there, super healthy finish it has.
The Shiseido Camellia Compact is more than just a pretty younng thing. It's a blush that's intensely pigmented, long-wearing, and can be combined different ways to achieve several colors. That brick red one over there is so pigmented you can even use it as eyeshadow, while the white is great for highlighting all over the face. How's that for multi-tasking?
Like the Shiseido blush up there, the MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy isn't for the weak of heart. It's very pigmented with strong red undertones, but once you figure out how to make it work - bam! This is easily one of the most naturally flattering blushes I've ever come across. It's exactly how I would blush. Pinks and peaches are nice on the cheeks, but the best colors for morena skin like mine will always be reddish hues like Love Joy.
I didn't like the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Blushing Bride at first because it looked odd on my skin, but now it's something I always pick up. Well, it's a blush that sticks even in the most humid weather; that's hard to find, you know! The color, a plummy-berry, looks better on my skin as the hours pass.
Last but not least, I am in love with the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Pale Pink. Let me count the ways! The color is lovely on me, it can be used as lipstick, and it's convenient enough to throw in my bag for touch ups any time. Bobbi pot rouges aren't legendary for nothing, methinks.
And that's it. :D Share your favorite blushes too! I, on the other hand, need to vamoose to meetings all afternoon. Later!
