MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium
Mineral makeup used to be a messy affair - well, I suppose it still is if you like the loose formulas (I do). But if you're rushed for time but still like the flawless, glowy finish that only mineral powders can provide, go for pressed! There are lots of great ones available now. One of them, an oldie but a goodie, is the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural (P1,700+).
Coverage and finish. The Mineralize Skinfinish offers sheer to medium buildable coverage that has a slight sheen to it. It could be a setting or finishing powder due to the glowy effect, but it can also be used as a daily base if you don't need a lot of coverage.
This has an extremely lightweight formula that feels like nothing on the face! It also doesn't cake due to the thin texture, yes, even when layered heavily.
Swatch of medium. I'd say it's a good match for NC30-35 skin. It's almost, but not quite translucent.
Worn on top of a sheer illuminating base, from MAC also. Love that natural finish and coverage!
Staying power. This stays on for a decent amount of time - around 4-5 hours with a liquid base underneath. It's not a foundation, really, nor a long-wearing or oil-controlling product. It's just something to help even out and enhance your complexion with almost invisible coverage.
It's absolutely perfect with some tinted moisturizer or BB cream underneath if you want fresh, "no-makeup" skin! It's also great as a touchup powder.
Shade selection. I believe that the local MAC carries about five shades of this. I wear Medium, which is half a step lighter than I'd like, but it blends on my skin eventually. This is a low coverage powder so there's no need to fuss about an exact shade match.
Packaging. The Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is a baked, domed powder, so please be careful about bringing this around. It's fragile and the plastic packaging doesn't do much to protect it. Oh and it doesn't have a mirror, unlike MAC Blot! I wish MAC would consider such a valuable addition to the compact.
Verdict. I love the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural and would recommend it to anyone who likes the "no makeup makeup" sorcery. It's light, glowy, and flexible enough to be an all around powder. Use it as an uber light foundation, to set your foundation, or to retouch your face during the day. Great stuff.
And that is that. Let me know if you've tried this and if you have any feedback to share! ;)
