Shiseido Week: Sheer and Perfect Foundation

I've had my eye out on this the Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation (P2,200) ever since I spotted it in counters last September. It promises to correct the "color noise" of the skin, which I understand to mean discolorations and general imperfections. It's also meant to be sheer - however, it's definitely not what I expected after the initial swatches!

This tiny bottle packs a punch. It has a medium coverage, just enough to even out the skintone and to soften blemishes as well as fine lines. It has a beautiful, dewy finish that intensifies as I oil up. Unsightly? Gross? Not at all! My skin looks very nice even though it's shiny with this foundie - it's like, I have another layer of skin, but better! It's not that much of a hassle for me to retouch every 2-3 hours.

Small bottle, yes, but it contains the standard amount - 30ml. This foundation is said to be equal to the Chanel Vitalumiere.

The texture of this liquid foundie is very watery and sets quickly upon application. You can use fingers to apply, but for best results, use a flat top brush or a wet sponge. Using tools somehow brings out the finish of this foundation better.

It has a slight scent - a tiny bit like sunblock. It has SPF18 and broad spectrum sun protection so that might explain the scent.

The shade I got is O60. It looks okay on me but I wouldn't say it's my perfect match! This has a sliiiiiiight gray cast on my face, for some reason.

Here's me wearing Sheer and Perfect, set with the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish powder. I didn't even have to edit the color or brightness here! Such a photogenic foundation. And so flawless.

Sheer and Perfect is not a long-wearing base. It has decent wear-time, around 5-7 hours (depends on how oily you are and how effective you retouch), and is more suitable for dry to normal skin. I wouldn't reco this to oily girls with considerable acne/blemishing as this product isn't really meant for that skin type. Shiseido has other long-wearing, heavy-coverage foundations, such as the Sheer Matifying Compact Foundation and the Sun Protection Liquid Foundation SPF43.

Overall, I adore the Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation even though I have combi skin. I'm okay with retouching, and besides I'm rarely out of the house for more than 7 hours. And I love dewy finishes! However, if you have oily, troubled skin and do not like to retouch often, this is not the foundation for you. I strongly suggest you check out Sheer Matifying and the Sun Protection foundies instead!

If you have good skin though and just need something to make it look unbelievable and photoshopped in person, do try this out. I think you'll like it a lot. ;)

Are you all for dewy-looking skin or are you crazy for matte?
