MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
I was at a rush that evening, preparing for a rare party that I need to attend. I was calculating the quickest yet most dramatic look I can get away with - cat eyes, Russian Red lips, ok! - while I was doing my base. Oh let me use that new concealer I bought when it just...slipped out of my fingers. Crack. Damn. I was weeping inside while I was cleaning up the mess of broken glass and yellow goo.
You see, though, I liked the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (P1,000) so much that I bought it again. I detest the glass pump bottle, but the formula is stellar - light, mid to heavy coverage, and a dream to blend on my skin tone. I've yet to find a brand that has a concealer shade that matches my skin this closely!
Unlike the MAC Studio Finish Concealer (my default product for blemishes), the liquid Pro Longwear can be used to conceal darkness under my eyes. It's thin and runny so it never looks cakey or sits on fine lines. On top of that, it has enough coverage to hide my blemishes, which means that I don't have to use a separate concealer for spots and bags.
The staying power is pretty good too. Once it sets into a matte finish and smoothed out with powder, it barely fades. Note that I don't have super oily skin though. If you do, it would be best to choose the Studio Finish.
I've always been an NC35. It's a tad orange on me when I'm pale, but this blends with no trouble.
Now, the cons. I dislike the thin glass bottle because it's too fragile. It feels luxe, but I'd rather have a plastic concealer bottle that I can abuse, seeing that I'd be using it for a year or so! The pump also dispenses a large amount of product every time. It's difficult to pump halfway - it's all or nothing. I always end up getting a LOT of the concealer out.
This I don't mind that much though. Remember, I use the concealer for both blemishes and eye bags, so I don't waste that much of the product. You also get 9ml of concealer which is a lot by normal standards. One solution to conserve it would be to unscrew the pump and then use a clean spatula, q-tip, or brush to pick up only what you need.
Overall, the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer has a great long-wearing, good-coverage formula that would be perfect for dry to combo skin. The pump and bottle will give you grief, and there are certainly other liquid concealers out there that won't be such a hassle to use. However, MAC still has one of the best shade ranges for warm Asian skin. That's my deal clincher.
The Pro Longwear is my current daily concealer simply because it looks invisible on my skin while only requiring minimal blending. So there you have it! Have you tried this concealer?
