Michael Kors launches cosmetics and fragrances in Manila
When I hear about Michael Kors, I think about elegant fashion for modern women who want easy pieces they can match with no fuss. The brand is on trend, but it's not so far ahead of the curve that it puts off those who are just looking for function and comfort. I really like Michael Kors satchels in particular as they look versatile and come in the prettiest colors!
If you're a fan of the brand, then I'm sure you'll love the new cosmetics and fragrance line that just arrived here in Manila. There are three collections: Sporty, Sexy, and Glam. Each collection has a Lip Lacquer (P1,500), Lip Luster (P1,450), two Nail Lacquers (P950 each), Bronze Powder (P2,350), and a perfume - products that are meant to finish your look the Michael Kors way.
The Sporty line is upbeat and fresh, with peachy nude shades to create a natural glow. The Sexy line, on the other hand, has bombshell colors to bring out the vixen we all know is purring right underneath the surface. Finally, there's the Glam line, reminiscent of old Hollywood magic with plummy deep shades and a posh scent. It's totally me! I guess the Michael Kors team knew that since they gave me products from the Glam collection to review for you guys.
Let's start with the Lip Lacquer in Dame (P1,500). This is a juicy Cabernet red with a hint of berry. I like that it's shiny because colors like this tend to age me; I don't mind on certain occasions when I want to look edgy, but on most days I would prefer something more wearable like Dame.
Here's a light way to wear dark lipstick: place a light pink shadow all over your lids, load on the lashes, and highlight your cheekbones. Looks fresh right? Try it one time. ;)
The lipstick has a smooth, moisturizing formula. The packaging looks luxurious of course, but doesn't have the heft one would expect from a high-end lipstick. This is something you buy for the joy of owning a beautiful color from Michael Kors and you know what, that's totally fine!
The Nail Lacquer in Envy (P950) is a deepened violet with a warm undertone. It's really pretty against my nails! It's fairly opaque in two coats. I do recommend using a fast-drying top coat since this dries rather slowly.
My favorite out of the three is the Glam Jasmine fragrance (1.7 oz / 50 ml at PHP 4,150, 3.4 oz / 100 ml at PHP 5,350). I love jasmine scents since I grew up with the plant right outside my window. This one is feminine with woodsy notes and sparkling citrus singing along with the heady jasmine top note. I'm actually wearing it as I type this post here in Tagaytay. I've had it on for five hours and I can still smell the woody base.
