If you’re the type of person who prefers the sheer to mid coverage of a tint, then this one is for you! I recently got to try the Barenbliss Apple Makes Adorable Mousse Tint (P399) and was hooked by the gloss-to-mousse formula. Interesting right? Upon first swipe, it feels like your normal glossy tint - wet, even a little balmy as it’s meant to be a moisturizing formula. Then, it dries down into an ultra light mousse texture with a powdery matte finish.

I find that two layers with this will get you semi-opaque coverage on the lips. One layer delivers a sheer tint, just nice for everyday. I suggest not to touch or rub your lips together as you wait for the formula to dry and set so as to maximize the effect! These tints have a light chocovanilla scent.

What’s cool is that unlike other mousse tints, this one has almost no powdery, rough feel when your lips happen to touch together. You know what I mean right? The layer of color remains flexible on the lips and doesn’t feel like one solid piece; it’s comfortable, so you can move your lips around without the feeling of wearing a lot of lip product.

Once the product fades after eating and/or drinking, you’re left with a sheer stain. You can see in my hand swatch that in the second/right photo, there’s still a stain after I’ve aggressively rubbed the swatches with cleansing oil and then rinsed with water! Now that’s impressive.

There are six shades available. I will describe them as I’ve observed them in person:

  • 01 Coral Wave - nude sunny coral

  • 02 Rose Haze - muted rose

  • 03 Candy Glaze - muted pinkish red

  • 04 Amber Peel - orangey red

  • 05 Cocoa Jam - pink chocolate (I can’t think of another way to describe this!)

  • 06 Burgundy Heat - wine red

The shades CAN look similar but they have different under tones. It doesn’t show very well in my lip swatches since I’ve had to remove and apply six different colors and after the first one, the stain from each shade builds up and cannot be removed! But in person, when applied on fresh lips, you can notice the subtle differences of each shade.

Overall, I recommend the Barenbliss Apple Makes Adorable Mousse Tint to anyone looking for a matte tint that almost feels like nothing on the lips! These tout pretty, muted colors which are very much on trend. Barenbliss really is my go to when I want colors that will update my look and deliver a fresh finish. Check it out!
