How to Slay with Authenticity: Sharing Our Key Takeaways from the First-Ever Beauty Creator Summit

Project Vanity proudly hosted the first-ever Beauty Creator Summit in the Philippines last Saturday, November 9 at the KMC Solutions, One Ayala in Makati. This special event has been in the works for months and it finally came into fruition. Four of the top beauty creators in the Filipino beauty space joined PV founder and EIC, Liz Lanuzo, on stage to share their experiences and help inspire the next generation of beauty content creators and enthusiasts: Belle Rodolfo, Kai Javier, Teree Daisuke, and Marj Maroket. They did not gatekeep so until we get to the next summit wink wink, here are some tips and tricks from their talks:

On Getting to the Next Level

Having a passion for beauty these days is just the starting point. With so many creators both locally and globally, how do we get people to notice us? To improve our content, there is a need to learn about storytelling, editing, and branding.

Belle held a yapper's workshop and posed questions on how to find your own unique voice such as "What are you here for?". By finding your unique POV, you can then make trending topics and scripts that still feel authentic to you.

Most beauty creators did not start full-time, and Kai shared her secret to maximizing the free time available with Content Batching. This is especially helpful for part-time or hobbyist beauty creators. She also had a list of equipment she personally uses (with a caveat about the minimum necessary for starting out – you don’t really need a lot!) and editing program tips that help make a creator's life easier.

Marj was all about developing your personal brand by going for a specific niche depending on your passion, strengths, and ideal followers. She also mentioned creating engaging content and staying consistent to your brand through the POV and style that you choose.

On Working with Brands

The Beauty Creator Summit featured several brand booths on-site. Ever Bilena, Hello Glow, Dermtropics, BYS, Ellana, Chu Chu Beauty, and Spotlight Cosmetics showcased their brands and products as well as interacted with guests through games and activities. This also provided a good networking opportunity for the attendees.

In his talk, Teree shared his know-how on working with brands. He suggested to start with building a strong online presence and deciding on a style like doing makeup transitions, tutorials, or educational format. He also covered how to price your services as a creator as well as analyzing the metrics and the platforms that will suit the style you decided on. Knowing which platform is best suited for you and your content is key.

On Making History

The Beauty Creator Summit would not have been possible without the support of the beauty community. From the beauty brands who helped sponsor the event to the attendees who loved learning about beauty to the creators who generously shared their knowledge, everyone showing up confirms how our beauty tribe is thriving.

These are exciting times for the Filipino online beauty space. What would you like to add to the conversation?
