Beauty Roundup: Spotlight Primer Duo, Issy Gelée, Happy Skin Crayons Comeback, and Lancôme’s Smart Makeup Applicator
This week’s roundup brings us news of innovation locally and around the world. Let’s get to know the new releases from homegrown brands: Spotlight Cosmetics’ duo of primers and Issy Cosmetics’ delicious lip gloss-tint Gelée. Happy Skin’s OG Shut Up & Kiss Me moisturizing matte lippies have come back with old faves and new shades. Lancôme is releasing a handheld device called HAPTA, which enables those with limited mobility to apply makeup precisely.
New Spotlight Cosmetics Primer Duo
In this fickle weather, it’s a challenge to make sure makeup stays in place throughout the day. A makeup primer can truly make a big difference! Choose from two new primers from Spotlight Cosmetics: No Pores Blurring Primer (P595) and Prism Glow Illuminating Primer (P495).
If you wish to control oil, blur pores, and reduce fine lines, Spotlight Cosmetics No Pores Blurring Primer is your fighter. This silicone-based primer is enriched with Snow Lotus, Ginseng Root, and Peony Extracts. The other contender, the Prism Glow Illuminating Primer, creates radiant, healthy-looking skin. This velvety primer moisturizes and plumps up the skin with glycerin and protects from the Sun with UV filters. No more makeup meltdowns!
If you thought lip tints were cute, Issy is here to change your mind. Meet Issy Gelée (P349), a moisturizing lip tint with a gloss finish. The gel formula glazes lips with vivid color and shine, and then leaves a lasting stain underneath.
It comes in ten (10) shades: Kink (milky nude rose), Bunny (cool baby pink), Coquette (soft peachy pink, Club (cool berry mauve), NSFW (neutral rosy beige), Petty (bold pink magenta), Hotline (warm peachy nude), Drip (muted brown latte), Hype (warm rosy brown), and Baddie (deep grungy brown).
The Comeback of Happy Skin Shut up & Kiss Me
Happy Skin has been keeping busy with new product launches left and right. But this time, they’ve come full circle by revisiting their OG, iconic, and beloved Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Matte Lippie (P599). Yes, the lip crayons that put the brand on the map in 2013. The recent release features eight (8) shades from their permanent collection, as well as favorites from previous collaborations and their other lip formulas.
Some of these shades have become staples in our lip arsenal: Under the Sheets (warm brown), The Morning After (old rose), and It Girl (carnation pink). Skinny Dipping is a peach nude originally released in collaboration with Heart Evangelista in 2018. Who can forget the cute Sanrio collab in 2017, with Best of Friends (dusty pink)? A favorite from the 2015 Holiday collection, Heartbreaker is a bold cherry red that is surprisingly easy on the lips. For a while, Honeymoon Glow was the pink rose shade on everyone’s lips, released in 2016. Unavailable (pink nude) is a crowd favorite released last year in their Lip Cloud formula.
Lancôme introduces smart makeup applicator HAPTA
For many of us, beauty products have helped us feel better about ourselves. However, not everyone has the same range of mobility to create such experiences. Enter HAPTA, the world’s first handheld computerized makeup applicator.
Paralympic medalists Veronica Yoko Plebani and Oksana Masters have definitely pushed the limits of what people with limited mobility can achieve. Yet, they struggle daily with something as simple as applying makeup on their own. HAPTA is a tool that can definitely enhance their daily lives as a motion-stabilizing device that allows effortless lipstick and mascara application. This next-generation beauty tech is designed for those with hand-motion disorders, poor grip strength, arthritis, Huntington’s Disease, and following stroke-related motion challenges.
Following its unveiling at the Consumer Electronics Show 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Lancôme has announced HAPTA’s beta release of 300 units this August 2024! Wishing much success to this Lancôme launch, as well as all of their future endeavors in making beauty truly accessible to all.
And that’s it for this week’s beauty roundup! What a time to be alive. It feels uplifting to witness the growth of local beauty brands, and how technology is expanding people’s experiences of beauty. See you on the next beauty news roundup!
