Beauty Throwdown: The Top 5 Filipino Powder Blushes—Which One Deserves the Crown?
Even with the rise of new blush formulas, powder blushes remain a staple in any makeup brand's essentials list. Mastering the art of applying powder blush with a fluffy brush is often one of the first skills a makeup beginner learns. Plus, the versatility of powder blushes allows for different placements that can complement various face shapes. While it’s not my first time testing and comparing powder blushes, it has been a few years, so I’m excited to dive back into the world of powder blush. Today, I’ll be exploring different brands, evaluating their pigmentation, beginner-friendliness, and longevity—all while keeping an eye on the price per gram. Let’s get started!
Spongebob x Careline Best Blush Ever Powder Blush in Money Money (P199) 2.5g = P79.6/g
Four shades
Pigmentation 5/5
Beginner-Friendly 3.5/5
Longevity 5/5
Total Score 13.5/15
Claims: "highly-pigmented formula that lasts for hours"
Additional benefits: Infused with Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid
The shade Money Money is a rich claret—think dark red with a hint of purple. The pigmentation here is intense—so much so that simply tapping off the excess from your brush won’t cut it. I found myself needing to diffuse some of the product on the back of my hand before applying it to my cheeks. This high level of pigmentation means that this shade isn’t exactly beginner-friendly; the application comes with a bit of a learning curve. It’s all too easy to apply too much, which can make blending a challenge. That said, it might just be the nature of this particular shade. I’ve tried other deep and bright blushes from different brands, and some still manage to blend out smoothly, even with bold pigments.
Liz's experience with this blush is that it has a pretty good staying power and I agree. My wear test lasted 8.5 hours and you can still see traces of the blush.
Ever Bilena Powder Blush in Dazzling Barbie (P229) 3g = P76.33/g
Six shades
Pigmentation 5/5
Beginner-Friendly 4.5/5
Longevity 5/5
Total Score 14.5/15
Claims: "a buildable, blendable, & long-lasting velvety blush"
Additional benefits: With skin-nourishing ingredients Vitamin E, Hyaluronic Acid, and Castor Oil
The shade Dazzling Barbie is described as the perfect pink, and it truly lives up to that for those with cool-toned skin. When I first swatched it, the shade appeared almost too light for my complexion, but once applied, it transformed into a refreshing pink. Just remember to use a light hand and gradually build up the color for a natural-looking flush.
In terms of longevity, this blush truly impressed me. During my wear test, it held up for an impressive 11.5 hours. I was so busy that I didn't even realize how much time had passed! Even then, I could still see a hint of the blush near my under-eye area—which makes sense, as that area tends to stay less oily than the apples of my cheeks. On the other hand, Liz noted that it lasted around around 4-5 hours on her, highlighting how differently products can perform depending on skin type and environment. Liz has oily combination skin, whereas I have dry skin.
Fresh Kbeautylab Blush Bomb Powder Duo in Cherry Chocolate and Caramel Sugar (P199) 3.5g = P56.86/g
2-in-1 shade
Pigmentation 5/5
Beginner-Friendly 4/5
Longevity 5/5
Total Score 14/15
Claims: "A rich blush that glides on smoothly and leaves you with a sun-kissed flush"
Additional benefits: Infused with Vitamins B3, B5, B6, C, and E
This duo blush palette offers the flexibility to use each shade separately, but I opted to swirl them together for that third, blended shade, which the product itself recommends. The result was a natural-looking flush on my cheeks. I can imagine that if I had a bit of a tan, it would have delivered more of that sun-kissed glow the palette promises.
During my wear test, this blush held up well, lasting around 9.5 hours with a noticeable tint still visible by the end of the day. While I love the versatility of this 2-in-1 format (hello, three different blush looks!), I’d really appreciate more shade options—maybe something lighter or cooler-toned to cater to a wider range of skin tones. It’s such a practical design that could be even better with a few more choices!
Happy Skin Second Skin Soft Matte Powder Blush in Dreamy Dusk (P599) 2g = P299.5/g
Six shades (five blushes and one blush bronzer)
Pigmentation 4.5/5
Beginner-Friendly 5/5
Longevity 4/5
Total Score 13.5/15
Claims: "Packed with ultra-fine baked powders that stay vibrant for up to 12 hours, it creates soft-focus rosiness that always looks fresh and natural. Formulated to apply seamlessly without any caking, streaking, or patchiness."
Additional benefits: Loaded with Hyaluronic Acid and Squalane
The shade Dreamy Dusk is a lovely dusty rose, and while it’s the deepest option among the available shades, it still manages to create a soft, lightweight effect on the cheeks. It’s super buildable, allowing you to adjust the intensity to achieve the perfect blush look. This makes it a great option for makeup beginners who might be worried about overdoing it with their blush.
After 6 hours of wear, the blush was still going strong, maintaining a soft matte finish that I really appreciate. It blends seamlessly into the skin over time, creating a natural-looking flush that stays put throughout the day.
Spotlight Soft Flush Powder Blush in Red Petalé (P495) 4.2g = P117.86/g
Six shades
Pigmentation 5/5
Beginner-Friendly 4/5
Longevity 5/5
Total Score 14/15
Claims: "This blush blends seamlessly, giving you a soft, radiant finish that lasts all day."
Additional benefits: Applicable to all skin tones
The shade Red Petalé is described as a rose sunset, which perfectly captures its warm-toned redness with a hint of orange. It’s a vibrant shade that adds a lively warmth to the cheeks. Like Liz mentioned in her review, it is highly pigmented, though not as intense as the Careline blush, which means that tapping off the excess is usually enough to control how much product gets picked up by your brush.
In terms of longevity, this blush holds up well throughout the day. At the 7-hour mark, my cheeks still had a faint but noticeable flush, which is impressive for a powder blush. It’s a great option if you’re looking for a warm, long-lasting pop of color!
Overall, these 5 Filipino powder blushes perform impressively, but the best choice ultimately depends on your preferred feel and shade selection. For me, the winner is the Ever Bilena Powder Blush, scoring 14.5/15. It strikes the perfect balance between price and performance, offering six shades to choose from while being the second most affordable in terms of price per gram.
In a close second place, we have a tie between the Spotlight Soft Flush Powder Blush and the Fresh Kbeautylab Blush Bomb Powder Duo, both scoring 14/15. The Fresh blush is the more affordable option at P199, but it only comes in one variant—though you do get three shades in a single pan. Meanwhile, the Spotlight blush is the second most expensive on this list.
Rounding out the review are the Happy Skin Second Skin Soft Matte Powder Blush and the Spongebob x Careline Best Blush Ever Powder Blush, each earning 13.5/15. Despite their slightly lower score, both still deliver great performance. Personally, I lean towards Happy Skin because of its blendability and how well it sits on the cheeks. It’s also the most beginner-friendly option in the lineup. Plus, it offers six shades that pair beautifully with the brand’s cream blushes—but that comparison is a story for another day!
