Beauty News Roundup: Shu-long to Shu Uemura, L'Oreal's first trans model, and Estée Lauder wins an award
We’re still working on fulfilling our 2017 beauty resolutions and it’s gotten so much harder to stick to the no-buy plan because of all the new releases and sale promos! This week, we spotted a big Chinese New Year sale and lusted after the sneak peeks of Too Faced, Glossier and Kat Von D. It’s almost enough to make up for Shu Uemura closing its stores but we admittedly now have cleansing oil-shaped holes in our hearts. Hold onto your wallets!
Everybody loves Estée
Warm congratulations are in order for Estée Lauder! The luxury brand has just received the highly-coveted Research and Innovation Award for the Advanced Night Repair Concentrated Recovery Powerfoil Mask, Advanced Night Repair Intensive Recovery Ampoules, and Revitalizing Supreme + Global Anti-Aging Wake Up Balm. It was awarded at the 31st Marie Claire Prix D’Excellence de La Beaute Awards in Paris.
Estée Lauder was recognized for their innovative and ground-breaking ideas in the beauty world, all the while staying true to their company’s core values and beliefs. At 70, the heritage beauty brand continues to stay ahead of the game, and as big fans of the ANR serum, we’re definitely looking forward to bigger, better and brighter things from Estée!
Shu-long, Shu Uemura!
We’d been hearing whispers since last month, and now the dreaded news has finally been confirmed. We’ll soon need to travel abroad to stock up on our favorite cleansing oil and lash curlers as Shu Uemura is pulling out of the PH, effective April of this year. L’Oreal Paris Philippines, the official distributor of the brand, released a statement explaining the change in their beauty portfolio as a move to strengthen the company’s position. If you’re already a fan or looking to make your first purchase, best to hoard your staples soon as the Shu Uemura store in Powerplant Mall will only be open until April 30, 2017.

L’Oreal TRANSforms the Makeup Game
Manny MUA becoming the new face of Maybelline was a progressive move to represent the LGBTQ. Well, not one to shy away from powerful campaigns and messages, L’Oreal has just debuted their newest face for the True Match Foundation: transgender model Hari Nef. The campaign, which was shown at the 2017 Golden Globes, highlights how there’s a True Match shade for everyone. Because transgender models are barely seen in beauty campaigns, this is proving to be a pivotal step towards acceptance and diversity for the cosmetic giant!

Too (Faced) Much LOVE
Following the releases of their Sweet Peach collection and Kandee Johnson collaboration, Too Faced Cosmetics continues to spoil and surprise us with even more goodies to look forward to. They’re next launching these jewel-like Heart Highlighters! As he is wont to do, co-founder Jerrod Blandino teased them on his personal Instagram, showing what looks to be shimmery powders in of gold, rose gold, and iridescent silver. The highlighter compacts are in the iconic heart shape, just like their blushes. They’d be perfect for V-day but these are set to be released sometime in March, so we have a bit more time to drool, ogle, and save up!
