Budget Beauty: Five bronzers under P500

If you want to enhance your beautiful god-given tan, get a bronzer that will make you glow like you just spent many lazy hours with a mojito by the beach. Apply a thin layer on your cheekbones, forehead, bridge of the nose, and chin to bring the sun to your face. Don't have a bronzer yet but don't want to splurge? Well, here are five locally available affordable bronzers that are perfect for Pinay skin!

Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder (~P260 in Watsons)

Essence has never disappointed me. It’s my favorite drugstore brand with a true drugstore price! This bronzer doesn't have that weird orange tone, which is enough reason for you to get it. It also blends really well and feels finely milled, which is something I don’t usually get from drugstore deals.

The finish is matte, so oily-skinned girls might prefer it if they want to avoid additional shine. It may also be used for contouring.

ELF Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder (P250)

The pigmentation of the bronzer is pretty intense and looks a bit orangey so make sure to apply with a light hand! It's still a great bronzing powder for beginners though, as you can’t beat the bronzer + blush combo at this price. Using them together produces a pretty "I spent the weekend at the beach" look that is perfectly on point this summer.

BYS Bronzing Powder (P249 in Watsons)

This powder features some heavy shimmer to get you beach-party ready! The pigmentation is buildable, the shade doesn’t look muddy, and it also works as an eyeshadow to give your lids a bit of sheen. I find the sun embossing detail pretty cute, too.

City Color Sunkissed Trio (P495 in Watsons)

This powder palette just barely makes it into our budget, but considering that it comes in a HUGE pan the size of my palm and contains a blush and highlighter as well, it seems more like a steal! You can choose from two shades (Tan and Golden) with the latter having a slightly more caramel-toned bronzer. Both bronzer shades have lovely specks of gold shimmer, but apply it lightly so as not to end up with a solid swatch of color on your face.

Flormar Bronzing Powder (P599 for a HUGE pan)

Okay, so I’m kind of cheating with this one. It’s over budget by P99 but it contains a whopping 33 grams of product! For comparison, most powders are only at around 10-12 grams so this compact will probably last you forever.

Aside from its impressive size, it totally wow-ed me when I swatched it in Watsons. Shade Br03 wasn’t too red or orange, and it delivered a beautiful bronze shimmer. The compact says it can be used for both face and body, so I definitely recommend taking a big, fluffy brush and dusting it on your face, neck and shoulders for a true bronze goddess look!

Have you ever tried using a bronzer? What do you think of trying one of these for summer?
