New Local Beauty Collab Alert: Duality & Diversity with Colourette x The Kings
Just in time for Pride Month this June, home-grown brand Colourette is dropping the #ColourettexTheKings collection with Joey and Angie Mead King. Both the couple and the brand are passionate about diversity and duality, which is why the collaboration is a perfect fit.
“What they (Colourette) were putting out there was how makeup empowers you no matter what frequency you are, and this is exactly what I was looking for,” said Joey when asked how the collection came about. Angie also enthused, “What we liked with the Colourette IG page, it already had diversity. So it was actually in line already with what we wanted.”

They worked with Nina Dizon, the founder of Colourette, to come up with multi-functional items that anyone can use to express and embrace themselves. When asked what duality meant to them, Angie shared, “Duality is appreciating and really embracing everything about myself. Making myself more confident because I’m able to be myself.”
“With us as individuals, we always have contrast in who we are. I wanted us to embrace that amazing element about you but also embrace that part that you may not enjoy, but it is still your duality,” Joey added. This theme of celebration carries over to the bold and gold packaging of the products - four Dualitints with two shades per tube and two new Face Gloss highlighters, all showcasing Colourette's high level of pigmentation.
The Review
The four Limited Edition Dualitints (P499 each) feature with two shades in each product, which can be used individually or mixed together. The shade names all have special meaning to the couple: Dualitint 1 in Love and Light, Dualitint 2 in Resting Beach Face (RBF) and No Furs Given (NFG), Dualitint 3 in Supercharged and Racewife, and Dualitint 4 in the metallics Happy Hour and Morning After.

In using these tints, a little bit goes a long way. Three dots were more than enough to get a full blush on my cheeks, and it lasted the entire day even in the summer heat. I tried to use the tints on my eyes also but I find that I need to prep with powder or primer first prior to patting the tints on. Some creasing does occur after a while but I love having the option to use just one product for my entire face.

The shea butter and argan oil make the tints really moisturizing, especially when used for the cheeks. On the lips, all the shades are quite stunning but the formula doesn’t really set so it's best to only apply a thin layer, or pat them on for a lovely take on the gradient lip.

The Face Gloss Ultra Fine Pressed Highlighter (P1,299) is as fine as the label says! The pigment is crazy, and I have to admit I was really, really hesitant at the launch event for this particular product because it wouldn't swatch well. As it turns out, you just have to break through the top layer and once you put it on your face, it is amazingly good! I actually compared it to my more expensive highlighters to check and, I kid you not, they are quite similar in finish and feel. Each pan contains 14g of product and comes with a free fan brush so it really feels sulit for the price.
The two shades in this collection are Aura and Lightning Speed. Aura is the lighter of the two and perfect for highlighting the brow bone, center of the nose, and cheekbones. I got the shade Lightning Speed, which swatches deeper and can even be used as a glowy blush on medium skin tones like mine. They also said that it’s their first ever highlighter with Yeast Beer Extract – “the active is known to help improve the skin’s texture leaving your face not only blinding but also smooth.”

I am in love with this collection! The eight shades made possible by the Dualitints make it easy to play with and mix colors to match different moods and outfits. My personal favorite is the metallic duo in Happy Hour and Morning After, which I’ve been non-stop on my eyes, cheeks, and lips. The shades are great for hanging on to summer sunshine and dreaming of beach trips while I’m practically strapped to my computer chair. Lightning Speed has also fast become the icing on top of my daily look. I literally can’t stop piling it on because I'm addicted to its glow!
