What happened when I used lip crayons ALL OVER my face
When Liz first told us writers about Project Vanity’s collaboration with Pink Sugar, I was completely psyched that my favorite beauty source would be coming out with its very own line of lippies and that I was one of the first to hear about it! I joined the launch party and volunteered to be one of the models so readers would have a better idea of what the different shades looked like on NC20 skin.
But aside from seeing how the shades look on fair, medium, and morena skin tones, I wanted to go beyond the realm of painting pouts to actually using all four shades to create an FOTD. It’s surprisingly easy, like the adult version of coloring with [lip] crayons! Bonus: It’s an on-the-go-look, and you won’t even need tools!
Contour with Love At First Swipe
After applying liquid foundation and concealer, I used Love At First Swipe to do some mild contouring. Granted, there is a hint of reddishness to this particular brown shade, so applying with a very light hand is a must as the lippies are known for being pigmented. I did a few swipes on the sides of my forehead, hollows of my cheeks, small portion of the jawline, and the sides of the nose. Then I blended everything with my fingers before setting the look with a powder foundation. It blends out pretty easily and the powder dials down the redness.
Blush with Woke Up Like This
Because it’s a pink brown shade, Woke Up Like This is naturally a great color for both lips and cheeks. I just dotted it all over my cheeks and patted it on with my fingers. It blends easily, so I can apply this over powder and still have it diffuse well. I also noticed that it complemented the Love At First Swipe contour as they both have a similar brown base.
Shadow play with Love At First Swipe and Woke Up Like This
Love at First Swipe’s earthy tone makes for a great shadow base or single shadow look. I applied it all over my lids, then used Woke Up Like This to create a vertical gradation effect from the crease of the outer corners of my eyes to the middle of the socket line. It adds a pinkish pop of color that looks especially flattering during the daytime! I loved this hack, too, because the creamy formula of the lippies made them so easy to blend all over my lids. It's best done on top of eyeshadow primer to make the colors hold better.
Ombre pout with Ready In Five and Nothing To Wear
To create the trendy lip effect inspired by Korean beauty, I applied Nothing To Wear to the center of my lips and traced the outer edges with Ready In Five. Then I just blended the edges together with my ring finger! You can also add more of the deep plummy shade to create a more pronounced contrast.
And that’s it! No need for brushes or sponges, and the final outcome is a pretty, pink-nude FOTD that works for everyday. We do recommend using a primer to prolong wear and prevent creasing on the lid area. Also, Nothing To Wear tends to leave a stain so it’s tricky to use on lids and must be blended quickly when using as blush.
