New from Generation Happy Skin: A mask-proof lip and cheek tint, water-resistant liner, and eyeshadow
After all this time, Happy Skin remains as one of my top three favorite local cosmetic brands. I like how they’re always improving their formulations and coming up with new ones. And now, since the launch of Generation Happy Skin a couple of years ago, they have affordable everyday makeup solutions that are all under P400. What a steal, right?
Recently they introduced a new collection under this sub-brand. What’s interesting is that they have new products that are perfect for our masked makeup minimalist life (forced as it is). These are perfect if you only want to spend five minutes on your face and don’t want to worry about retouching. Let’s run through everything!
The Happy Skin Kiss & Bloom Velvet Lip & Cheek Stain (P349) might look sort of familiar but I like to think it’s the best iteration of the brand’s foray into tints. As promised it has a velvety texture, but it doesn’t feel powdery or rough at all and has a cute watermelon scent. This descends into the lips like a fluffy, whipped cloud, then spreads out beautifully AND evenly with zero effort. It’s full coverage with just a swipe of product! That’s how intense it is.
I have two shades here: Drama Queen, a brown with a mauve undertone, and Artsy, a brown with a peachy undertone. When applied opaque, these register pretty deep on my lips. I prefer them sheered out so there’s less maintenance required. I do hope to see more variety in Happy Skin’s lip shades down the line.
It’s not quite transfer proof, but you do have to rub hard it to make it transfer. Once it sets, it will stay put short of rubbing, and leaves a stain when you eat our drink. If you have dryness and chapped skin, you have to work a balm through your lips before or after to get the best results. Otherwise this may be a bit drying.
The Bloom Velvet Stain also works well as a cheek product. Just apply a small amount and blend fast as it sets fast. Staying power is decent at about 3-4 hours without a mask, and about 2 hours with a mask. Not bad! It’s a great way to get color that sticks in this heat.
Overall, I recommend the Kiss & Bloom Velvet Lip & Cheek Stain if you want a stain that actually covers your whole lip area (not just the middle!) and won’t easily rub off as a mask touches your lips. At P349, it hits the spot as the perfect daily lip/cheek color. It’s what I’ve been wearing lately if I’m just stepping out or doing a quick Zoom call.
Next up is the Happy Skin Pretty Easy Budge-Proof Liquid Eyeliner In Black (P399). You guys know I LOVE eyeliner and it is central to my makeup identity. So, I have high standards when it comes to liner - it is very hard to make me happy in this area. This is why I am happy to report than I really like this liner!
First off, it’s BLACK and opaque in just one layer. There’s a glossy finish to it, but it’s not too obvious so I don’t mind. I like that this is also highly sweat and tear-resistant so you can expect it to stay on your lids for about 6-7 hours. It’s not quite oil-resistant though, so I recommend to powder your lids first or wear eyeshadow before placing this, to give it more “stick”.
This liner has a felt tip which I normally don’t like because it’s usually stiff to work with, but the actual tip of this Happy Skin liner is bendy. That makes it easy to maneuver around the eyes! The tip is a bit fat which makes it great for graphic lines, but with a bit more care and control you can get a thinner line naman.
Overall, this is a great find that I’ve been enjoying as well! For only P399, this is a nice every day liner. My other faves are in the P900-1,000+ range right now so I’m happy to find an affordable liquid liner, and it’s local too. It’s likely that I will buy this when I run out.
Last but not least, I’ve got here the Happy Skin Pretty Easy Soft Touch Eyeshadow (P299). This is a cream/powder hybrid. It feels creamy as you swipe it, it glides like cream, but sets as a powder. It will still require an eyeshadow primer to keep from creasing! In line with the rest of the collection, this is a swipe and go situation if you just want a quick eye-brightening look for a couple hours.
I have two shades with me: Pop Quiz, a shimmery light bronze, and Spring Break, a shimmery champagne. They do look quite similar yes, but if I had to choose I’d go with Pop Quiz. It adds both shimmer and depth to the lids!
And that’s it! These new Happy Skin items are practical and well-priced - they know their market, and they know exactly what to help us with. One day though I would love to see Happy Skin with bright, complex colors! But that’s just me. You know how intense I can get about makeup.
Let me know what you think of this new collection!
