Full, In-Depth Review: Happy Skin x Marj Maroket Brushes

I’ve done a first impressions review of the Happy Skin x Marj Maroket brushes over on Tiktok, so please watch that before reading this (if you don’t mind!). The reason is that some products are better seen in action than others. Have you seen it? Okay, then read my review after a couple of weeks of using these brushes everyday!

Before anything though, I’m really pleased to see this collaboration between Happy Skin and Marj. She is the perfect Happy Skin ambassador, and it’s only fitting that the brand’s first full collab of new products with a content creator is with her! I do hope to see more collabs in the future.

Now, my mind hasn’t changed about these brushes. They are solidly good and totally worth the money - almost P2,500 for the set and around P300-500 per brush.. The brushes are super soft and functional for what Marj designed them for. I’ve also washed them a couple of times already and I didn’t observe dye running or the bristles shedding over much (though expect a couple or so hairs to fall off as is natural when washing brushes the first few times). The soft feel of the brushes haven’t changed either after washing; they’re exactly the same. Some synthetic brushes can feel stiff after washing and that didn’t happen here.

BRUSH EXCELLENCE

Left to right: Setting Brush, Concealer Brush, Cream Cheek Brush, Foundation Brush, All-Around Powder Brush, Buffing Brush

I rarely recommend getting a full pre-selected brush set if you already have a set of brushes you already like, and that’s still the same here. These brushes are geared more for applying cream and liquid base and color makeup. If your favorite products lean more towards powders, then you won’t get to use these brushes as much in your routine. Mind you, these are EXCELLENT brushes - for creams and liquids. They can certainly apply powders too but that’s an off-label application so to speak; they’re really best with wet products, not dry. Except the All-Around Powder Brush, which is made for powder. I do find the Setting Brush a bit too small for setting for my own face and IMHO it is best for cream highlight or maybe blending cream eyeshadow too.

That being said, I absolutely LOVE the Foundation Brush. I’ve been pretty much using it ever since I got it, replacing all the brushes I use for foundation and concealer at this point. I love the slanted yet fluffy edge. It just works well with diffusing full coverage products to make them look like skin without actually messing up the level of coverage. I’m thinking of getting a back up of this one, for when it’s in the wash!

My second must-have brush would be the All-Around Powder Brush. I find it a bit small for the way I set my base with powder, too, but it’s great for applying powder contour, blush, and highlight. Yes, I am totally a powder girlie when it comes to these product categories.

And finally, I would also recommend the Cream Cheek Blush. This can be used for concealer too, but it is really good specifically with cream blushes as the name suggests. It’s short and stubby, super soft, and can apply the blush as if you used your own fingers. It’s also the right size for cream blush packaging.

The Buffing Brush, Setting Brush, and Concealer Brush also work well but don’t get as much use for the way I apply my makeup. If I have extra time to refine my base - and I do take that time for event makeup - I pick these up. But if I’m in a rush I go for bigger brushes that cover and blend things much faster.

Overall, get the set if you like the functionality of the brushes! If you have similar brushes already then of course choose and pick the ones that fill the gaps in your collection.

PS - if you can get the brush pouch, get it too! I love that it stands up and is roomy enough to fit other brushes or products, really useful when one travels!
