Following the influx of lip, cheek, and multi-use product releases, Issy & Co.’s latest collection - Skin On the Go - was a breath of fresh air that the beauty community needed. While I’m not complaining about the aforementioned influx since I’m always excited over new makeup, finding out about Issy & Co’s Active Skin Tints and Weightless Loose Powders took my excitement to a whole new level.
In line with the brand’s promise of “beauty made easy,” the Skin On the Go Collection focuses on skinimalism (skin + minimalism). Formulated with skin-loving ingredients, the Active Skin Tints and Weightless Loose Powders are all about healthy and healthy-looking skin.
Okay, let’s go straight to the review! Just a heads-up, I decided to review the Active Skin Tints (P499/35ml) and Weightless Loose Powders (P349/10g) side by side.
Packaging
The Active Skin Tints are housed in a long tube with a pump (hooray!). Together with its box, everything is black and white, which is perfect for the collection’s minimalist theme. Since the pump is airless, expect multiple pumps before getting the product out. Issy & Co. suggests removing the pump, pressing down the tube to release air, then putting the pump back.
The packaging of the Weightless Loose Powders is such a dream! You get a mirror on the cap. The puff sits on top of a cover that separates it from the powder. Finally, there is a trampoline mesh that controls the powder from getting all over the place.
Shade and finish selection
Six shades. The Active Skin Tints come in six adaptable shades. What a game changer! While it’s still quite a long way to go, it makes me so happy that a local brand is blazing the trail when it comes to offering more shade selections. The shades are Vanillé (FW1), Fawn (MO2), Beech (FN2), Hazel (MW3), Brûlée (DO4) and Sienna (DW4). Hazel is a perfect match for me.
On the other hand, the Weightless Loose Powders come in three different finishes - mattifying, translucent, and illuminating. Given the variety of finishes, there’s bound to be one for you. Personally, I love the mattifying and illuminating the most.
Formulation
Since it’s about healthy skin, the Active Skin Tints are formulated with niacinamide (helps improve skin texture and control sebum production), glycerin (skin-restoring ingredient that supports hydration), squalene (olive-derived antioxidant that seals in moisture), and sunscreen actives (broad spectrum UVB/UVA SPF 35 sunscreen). Active Skin Tint is the perfect name, right? Oh, the Active Skin Tints are ideal for all skin types, especially combination and oily because of the oil-free formulation.
The Weightless Loose Powders are free from talc. They have a blend of mica and cornstarch that reduces chances of irritation and potential toxicity. The illuminating powder has diamond powder; the translucent one has vitamin E, while the mattifying powder is an oil-absorbing powder with squalene.
Application
Applying the Active Skin Tint was such a breeze. I used my fingers and I didn’t have any issue blending it. It honestly felt like it was melting into my skin. By the way, one pump was enough for my entire face and it toned down my redness. Curious, I applied a second layer, and I am happy to report that it layered beautifully. Thus, the coverage can go from sheer to medium.
For the Weightless Loose Powders, I used the puff and dipped it onto the trampoline mesh. It was super easy. For a more precise application, you can use the puff for your under eye are, then use a powder brush for the rest of your face. Trying the different finishes, I appreciate the subtle differences from one finish to the other, which made my skin look natural and healthy.
Both the skin tint and powder felt comfortable on my skin. I tried it on my boyfriend, who doesn’t wear makeup, and he felt like he had nothing on! The consistency of the Active Skin Tint is right in the middle of thick and thin, while the powders are super fine. Just to add, there was no white or gray cast on my face. My boyfriend’s slightly darker than I am, so Hazel was a bit light on him at first. After a few minutes, it adapted (as claimed) and matched his skin tone.
Longevity
Paired together, the Active Skin Tint and Weightless Loose Powder lasted for 8 hours on me! I honestly feel like it can go beyond 8 hours because my makeup wipe took off quite a lot of product. I took an hour-long walk, which worked up a sweat, and my makeup was still intact! I particularly tested out the mattifying powder, and it kept the oil at bay. I didn’t notice any shine until after 2 hours, which is such a feat for my oily skin.
Additional information
The Active Skin Tints and Weightless Loose Powders are made in Taiwan. They are both non-comedogenic, vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, preservative safe, and dermatologist tested. After opening, the Active Skin Tints will last for 12 months, while the Weightless Loose Powders will last for 18 months.
