How true are the raves about the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara?

When I saw Tati fawn over the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara in her video review, I knew I just had to get one too. Luckily my friend was visiting the US and kindly got me one as a gift! It's around 7 USD, so it's roughly P360. This is not yet available in the PH but there are some resellers of US cosmetics online where you can source it.

Okay. So. The Lash Paradise performs well when it comes to volumizing and blackening lashes, especially at the roots. The big brush deposits a good amount of product and doesn't smear the mascara around my lids with a controlled swipe. Two coats are enough to fatten my thin sparse lashes!

It actually reminds me of the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. The brush is similar in that there's a slim, curvy middle. The volumizing formula feels similar too; both sit comfortably on the roots of the lashes, creating that thick, fringed effect. Both don't noticeably smudge on me ALL day and they don't smear even when my eyes get teary.

Fresh application of the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara

Five hours after: no flaking or smudging!

I love that Marc Jacobs mascara, but where the Lash Paradise departs from it is how it fails to hold up a curl. I'd say my lash curling ability is high up on the scale (thanks to my Shiseido and Shu Uemura curlers) but my lashes come down almost immediately when I swipe on Lash Paradise. It's also not so good-looking when it comes to the lengthened tips. The lash tips, as you will notice in the picture, are all haywire.

Look at em crazy tips

But that last part is just nitpicking and can be improved with a more precise application technique. I wish the L'Oreal Lash Paradise can keep my poor lashes curled up all day, but otherwise the formula is pretty good in the volumizing department. Does it displace the Maybelline Lash Sensational as my best drugstore, affordable (Majo Majo Lash King doesn't count there hehe) mascara? No. But it comes close.

Have you tried the Lash Paradise? What are your thoughts?
