Welcome to the new Project Vanity!

I started Project Vanity almost eight years ago, when I was still in college. I was curious about makeup primarily to cover up my acne scars. My first ever concealer was that P150 tube from Nichido, haha! Like everybody else, I tried out cheap drugstore brands and then started saving up for the stuff inside Beauty Bar and Rustan’s. I devoured tutorials online; I would watch Michelle Phan and hurriedly try out her tips.

I discovered legends like Christine of Temptalia, Karen of Makeup and Beauty Blog and Vanessa of Nessasary Makeup. I patterned my website after theirs, with lots of reviews, swatches and looks for everybody to reference. I had considered the vlogger route, but that’s a whole different world and I’m more happy to provide my content in words and photographs. Believe it or not, it’s hard to be a personality in front of the camera!

Somewhere along the way, Project Vanity evolved. I didn’t know it in 2008 but somehow this website would become the home of intelligent women looking for practical beauty solutions that make sense. Perhaps they saw something of themselves in me; or it can be the other way around. I saw myself in them. I saw women who understood that being beautiful is more than just having a pretty face, but it never darn well hurt to know the right foundation shade and lipstick for their skintone.

So along with makeup I started writing about self-confidence and being happy with how we look look like. I wrote about passion, heartbreak, love, and life as often as I can. The makeup and skincare features will always be a big chunk of Project Vanity but I sought understanding from you, Reader, as well as to understand where you’re coming from and what you need.

This year, I want to make Project Vanity grow. The way to do that is to provide you with even better content!  With the help of a few investors, I decided to hire a team of writers and a camera guy to create fabulous articles for you. I am also in the process of incorporating the company so that I can work more closely with different brands. In other words, as of today, Project Vanity will no longer be a beauty blog written by just one woman; it will be a magazine written and photographed by a team of passionate, intelligent writers who embody what the blog is about.

What can you expect? I will still be at the helm as Editor-in-Chief and I’ll still be producing the same content I’ve been putting up here for seven (almost eight) years. You’ll just have a lot more of it from other amazing writers, who have PV DNA in their blood, haha. They’re really cool - Katsy, Rae, Stacie, Kim, Kathleen, Mara, Marielle, Doms, and Kisty has excellent articles for you this month. Expect how-to videos from a new channel, too, from our camera guy Paul. Den, who’s been working with me on my client requirements for years now, will be managing the staff and will keep this ship tight.

So there you go, welcome to the new Project Vanity! Thank you for always supporting my ventures, from my workshops, events, promotions, and of course reading this blog everyday. It means the world to me. I hope you can stay with me for a while longer, and see what Project Vanity has in store for you this 2016.

Have a great Monday! Are you excited for the new year?
