Soft, velvety lips are easy with the Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color (swatches + review)

If you’re familiar with Korean airy velvet tints then the concept of the Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color (P475) is no stranger to you. This 19-color collection promises a weightless formula that feels like a cushy cloud on the lips, with a true blotted matte finish that looks smooth as you apply it. This isn’t even out yet in the Philippines (it’s coming next month!) so you’ll be the first to see how this product performs.
First things first: I have tried the SoKor tints and generally dislike them. I find that the whipped velvet texture doesn’t always stick to my lips properly, so they can end up patchy even with careful application. I also personally find them drying, which is weird, because I don’t have dry lips in any case. Do note that I’m talking about the velvet tints, not the full coverage ones. Anyway that’s why I’ve lost touch with them in the last couple of years.
Not gonna mince words: I really like these Revlon Cloud lip colors. I love the way the formula hugs my lips like a glove, with most of the colors rendering evenly on my lips with minimal patchiness. Most important is the fact that even without lip balm, these did not kill my lips with dryness! I swatched these 19 shades in one sitting - so imagine me putting every single one on and removing each color with makeup wipes and tissue - and my lips feel happy after the session. I DID NOT USE LIP BALM at all.
These are definitely moisturizing. I can feel the moisture being trapped inside the formula when I press my lips together! And did I say these are weightless? There’s no waxy and tight liquid lipstick feel.
There are 19 beautiful shades available in the Philippines. They can look similar to each other though, so choose your shades wisely. Everything is flattering on my medium skintone (yes even the orangey one called Orange Meringue, surprisingly! It looked quite orange out of the tube) except for one, the Whipped Hazelnut. It was too pale of a nude for me, but it should work for fairer skin tones.
My top picks are Fluffy Coral, Soft Sienna, Spun Sugar, Chocolate Souffle, Blush Much?, and Raspberry Souffle. You can’t go wrong with these colors!
Pigmentation here is interesting. I wouldn’t say these are full coverage as they’re not fully opaque; there’s a translucence to the shades, as they deliver the blotted lip effect. These are not as bright as they look like on the wand, so don’t be afraid to try the brighter colors! Most shades (except for Orange Meringue and Blush Apricot) cover the lips quite well without any patchiness. Some shades may look a bit patchy in the photo but look quite even in person. It’s just the camera picking up tiny details.
The best way to apply these is to swipe a thick layer in the middle of the lips, then smoosh lips together until it spreads out. A small amount goes a long way. You don’t want to put too much or else the silicone-based formula would bunch up! Of course, avoid lip balm, to make sure that these will adhere properly on the lips.
As for the staying power, these last pretty well. They can stay on for 3-4 hours on me depending on how much I eat and drink. These don’t transfer to glasses and utensils very much so that adds to the longevity. Expect a light stain after a meal.
It bears mentioning that this lip product doesn’t have a smell or flavor.
Overall, I highly recommend the Revlon Cloud Blotted Lip Color if you like velvety tints. These look great on the lips as they fill in lines and deliver soft, even colors. Watch out for it in Revlon counters this March! Do you think these are something you would try?
