A thorough review of the Revlon Life-Proof Matte Foundation Stick

This story is brought to you by Revlon.

It’s not very often that I get to present a really, really good drugstore foundation to you. So I am not going to mince words - the Revlon Life-Proof Matte Foundation Stick (P725) is now a mainstay on my makeup desk! I usually go for Dior, Tom Ford, Fenty, or MAC as you know but this Revlon stick can compete with the big leagues.

What I love most about it is how easy it is to apply. You just swipe as much as you need on your face, buff well with a dense foundation brush (ideally a flat top or kabuki), and you’re done! You’d still need to set this with some powder of course. The coverage I would say is medium to full. It can cover up light blemishes in one layer, so you won’t need much concealer with this on. Actually, if you only have light blemishes, this can already serve as concealer - even on the under eyes!

It claims to be “life-proof” with up to 24 hours of wear, but since there’s no way I’m going to wear makeup for 24 hours, let’s just say this one can last up to 12 solid hours (with setting spray, 10 hours without) intact. You’ll need to retouch mid-way but it doesn’t easily fall apart even on oily skin. In fact, on my combination skin, I’d say it looks better as I wear it! It can look a tiny bit patchy when freshly applied but smoothens out beautifully as it melts during the day.

Here’s the Revlon Life-Proof Matte Foundation Stick freshly applied at 10am

I love to use my Urban Decay All-Nighter spray with this to make sure it stays put, but without it this still has about 10 hours of wear before gradually fading. It is not waterproof, so if you sweat it’s best to blot with tissue immediately.

The photos below show how the foundation wears during the day. I definitely will still get oily, but notice how the foundation looks A LOT smoother as the hours go by. As long as you blot with sheets or tissue, and apply pressed powder to retouch then the foundation actually stays on without fading or caking.

I’ve swatched five shades for you here, but there are 10 shades available in the Philippines that goes pretty deep - morenas, rejoice! I alternate between the shades 290 Natural Ochre and 300 Golden Beige. This is mainly because I swim twice a week these days, so I get a bit tan afterwards. My default is usually Natural Ochre but I mix in Golden Beige when I’m sliiightly darker. Both shades are yellow-toned so they match me perfectly.

I would suggest though that you apply and blend this Revlon foundation stick fully to get the perfect match. The swatches can be misleading as they blend out differently than they look fresh off the tube! Try to test the foundation shade on your face first before committing.

Overall, I find the Revlon Life-Proof Matte Foundation Stick a great everyday foundation that I will probably finish. This is a great foundation for those with oily skin that need a lot of coverage! I love that it is something that I can just swipe on, buff, and then roll out with. It’s like the foundation equivalent of wash-and-wear hair, plus it’s so low maintenance all day. Now the shades can be tricky (Revlon foundation shades are often tricky!) but once you find your match I think you’ll enjoy this foundation quite a bit.

Let me know what you think, as always!

Revlon is available in department stores nationwide and at their Lazada Flagship Store.
