Budget Beauty: The under P1,000 skincare regimen for dry skin

As a dry-skinned gal, I may not have to worry about a shiny T-zone or eyeliner smudging but my concerns are of a different nature. Having dry skin means that I'm more prone to wrinkles, skin irritations, and an ashy-dull complexion. If you have the same skin type, you probably know that the weather also makes things worse - it gets so humid that any remaining moisture just gets zapped out of your skin!

Clearly, jumping into a tub of moisturizer and living there forever isn't a feasible solution. Not to worry! With a budget of just P1,000 you can build a skin care routine that will nourish your parched skin and prevent premature aging.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser (P127 for 60ml)

It doesn't have that lush, sudsy texture that most facial washes do, but that's actually why it's so much better for your skin. A lot of additional chemicals are needed to create a rich lather, and while it may feel nice while you're slathering it on, they can strip your skin's natural oils and leave your skin feeling dry and tight.

I personally love that it feels like a really thin lotion and has a fragrance-free formulation, plus you can actually just tissue it off when you're done!

Garnier Light Milky Lightening Dew (P179 for 150ml)

Just as not using moisturizer on oily skin is a beauty myth, not using toner on dry skin is quite baseless as well. The somewhat thick and milky formula may seem odd at first, but it doesn't sting or feel too harsh on skin. It also contains lemon essence, which acts as a gentle exfoliant. That means it can help brighten your complexion and make your skin feel smoother!

Human Heart Nature Sunflower Beauty Oil (P149.75 for 50ml)

I was beginning to lose hope about finding an affordable serum when I remembered how the beauty world got into a frenzy over this proudly local product. It promises to work no less than 23 miracles for your face, hair and body, which isn't hard to believe given its cult following. At any rate, this beauty oil is a great source of moisture that you can easily tote around in your purse.

Olay Total Effects 7-in-one Anti-Ageing + Fairness Cream SPF15 (P399 for 20g)

Soft, supple skin is a must if you want to look younger than you actually are, so choose a moisturizer that also has anti-aging properties. This cream formula claims to help prevent and treat fine lines, age spots, and large pores in addition to keeping your skin moisturized during the day. It's not a replacement for your trusty sunscreen though, so make sure to layer that on after.

  • Cleanser - P127

  • Toner - P179

  • Serum - P149.75

  • Moisturizer - P399

Total: P854.75

Bonus: Leaders Coconut Bio Mask with Orange (P148)

It's too expensive to make into a daily habit, but applying it as a weekly beauty treat should be comfortable for your budget. Think of it as a potent moisture booster! The Project Vanity staff just can't get enough of this stuff but if you somehow missed all our various tributes, you can find a dedicated review here.
