Swatches + Review: Spotlight Satin Butter Lips

If you’ve just about had it with glossy balms and crave something a little different for your lips, I think you should take a close look at the new Spotlight Satin Butter Lips (P395 for 3 grams). It’s a balm at heart, which means you still get that much-needed moisture, but it surprises you with a satiny matte finish that’s almost full coverage. Interesting, right? It’s the best of both worlds: the hydration of a balm with the polish of a lipstick!

Now, let’s talk texture. It glides on like butter, literally. You’ll notice how lightweight it feels on the lips—sitting somewhere in between a traditional bullet lipstick and a balm. It’s comfortable to wear, and honestly, you might forget you’re wearing anything at all, which is always a win. This has a light sweet scent and packaging is basic but pretty and functional. The staying power is pretty decent too, clocking in at around 3-4 hours. Plus, the deeper, stronger shades like Power Red and Girl Boss can leave a beautiful stain behind, which I personally love because you’re left with a soft, natural color as it fades.

There are eight beautiful shades in the collection, so there’s a good chance you’ll find a color that suits you perfectly. Speaking of which, I think I’ve finally found the nude lip for me! The shade Elegant is almost exactly like my natural lip color but with just a touch more pink—it’s super flattering and easy to wear. Another good one is Head High, which also works for me. It leans a bit more brown, so it gives off a slightly warmer vibe.

If you’re on the hunt for a perfect nude, this line has options worth checking out. But if you’re into bolder lips, Girl Boss is a fire engine red that demands attention in the best way possible. I also have a soft spot for Confident—it’s a great shade on its own, but I especially love it when it’s blotted down into a pinky stain. It’s just so chic!

Overall, Spotlight has delivered another great product. The Satin Butter Lips really nails that perfect balance of moisture, color, and finish. If you’re over the gloss and want something with more character and weight, this might just be what you’ve been looking for.
