Staff Picks: This month’s biggest beauty splurge

I’ll let you in on a secret: I’ve never spent more than a thousand bucks for any of my beauty products! I don’t really find the need to use using high-end makeup yet, so I haven’t purchased any. I prefer to look for really good deals but I think that you should definitely go ahead and splurge if you can afford it and find that the product will be worth it!

We all have a ceiling for how much we’re willing to spend to cosmetics, and from our survey, we’ve noticed that readers are generally more willing to spend on skincare than makeup. Out of curiosity, we thought to check with the PV team about the most expensive beauty-related items they bought this October and here’s what we found!

Stacie:  I’ve only splurged on one beauty item this month and it is the Wild Peach Cosmetics Large Customizable Palette. Many of my eyeshadows and blushes have broken containers, making it difficult for me to use them in my daily makeup routine because I don’t have the time to fuss with unhinged compacts or cracked palettes. Now that I’ve depotted the products and placed them in this huge empty palette, I’ve been using them more frequently!

Kim: After a ton of pro-and-con sessions with my favorite enablers, I finally decided to get a brush upgrade! This month I got my hands on a few Wet n Wild vegan brushes, the Real Techniques Core Collection Set, Blush Brush, and Miracle Complexion Sponge, and the fairest of them all - the Zoeva Rose Golden Complete Eye Set. They cost me a pretty penny but looking at these tools of makeup magic bring me so much joy.

Crystal: My face is an oily mess, so I'm always on the lookout for long-wearing foundations. Kat von D Lock-It Foundation keeps receiving a lot of raves, so I'm very happy to finally get my hands on one especially since it's not available locally.

Jennifer: My skin has been in quite a funk lately; I'm guessing I may need to up my cleansing game. I do double cleanse but I felt that my skin could use a boost with a face brush. The popular Clarisonic face brush worked wonderfully for me but mine has sadly retired. With a smaller budget this month, I picked up the Miniso Sonic Facial Cleansing Brush. I’m crossing my fingers that it will work just as well for me!

Claire: I'd been eyeing palettes from TheBalm for quite a while. I nabbed the Balm Voyage Vol. 2 on Sephora.ph during the recent site-wide sale because it was 20% off! I love that I can just grab this and go if I forget to fix my makeup bag. Just looking at it gives me wanderlust and reminds me of happy journeys.

The other PV girls are currently on self-imposed shopping bans though because they’re saving up for the special holiday releases! What about you, did you do any beauty hauls this month or are you waiting for the holiday collections as well?
