Staff Picks: The ultimate lipstick

Everyone has a favorite lipstick (or two or three). It's the one that never leaves your purse, the one you have another tube of in your dresser, and has several back-ups of in utter fear of it being discontinued. The ultimate lippie is probably in your favorite shade and made with a formula you love. So, if you're curious, the Project Vanity staff polled together to find out which tubes will have to be pried from our cold, dead hands!

Liz: I've lost count of the number of lippies I have in my house. Hmm, maybe three hundred after removing the expired ones? Anyway I rarely finish a lipstick, even get halfway down the tube with all the products that come my way for review! But there are exceptions, of course. My current absolute favorite lipstick right now is the Full Glamour Lips in EX05 Creamy Mocha. It's everything I want my lipstick to be!

Marielle: I've got a bit of a hoarder situation going on, so I haven't hit the bottom of a lipstick tube in two years. The last lipstick I finished up was Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. I love the stuff so much that I have four other colors from that collection! I've also finished up my old tube of MAC Viva Glam V, and am halfway through MAC Rebel. Since MAC lipsticks are on the pricey side, I make sure to get a color I know I'll finish up.

Den: Until recently, the only lip products I've ever been able to use up are cherry-flavored Chapsticks but now I'm contemplating on getting a new tube of Revlon's Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Tease. The fiery orange-red shade instantly brightens my face, and the formula feels rich and moisturizing. Coverage is a bit sheer and the finish is shiny, but I rather like that it doesn't make me look too made up.

Jorj: I haven't finished up any of my lipsticks yet, but my absolute favorite is the Wet 'N Wild MegaLast Lip Color in Bare It All . It's the perfect nude for my skin tone! I feel like I can survive with just that color. I'm kidding, of course. I love red and dark plum, too. But if I ever need to pick just one lipstick to wear for the rest of my life, it's Bare It All. It's the poor man's Velvet Teddy, what more can you ask for? :p

Kim: Eep, I've never really finished or repurchased a lipstick! I have so many in rotation that they'd go bad before I can actually see the end of the tube (which I feel bad about). I guess the closest answer would be the Maybelline Watershine Pure Lipstick in R21 since it never leaves my purse. I love the comfortable, moisturizing feel that could look very natural or vava-voom red depending on how much I layer.

Kisty: I haven't finished up any of my lipsticks yet, but I might repurchase Just Say Yes and Summer Fling from Happy Skin. I love their moisturizing lippies!

Katsy: I haven't actually repurchased any of my lipsticks yet because I collect them and I have one too many. But if I had to name one as my ultimate lipstick, I would get another Rouge d' Armani in a heartbeat. Come to think of it, I may just need a nude one from the line right about now!

Stacie: I am planning to repurchase a few lippies although I am far from finishing them. First is the Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippie in Hold My Hand, which is a beautiful mauve-y berry on me! I don’t have any similar shade to it yet but it’s oh so beautiful. Some branches still have this lippie in singles ;) The second is Bbia’s Last Lipstick in 04. It’s advertised as a beigey nude but when I got it, the promotional photos are dead wrong. It’s a beautiful pink nude, exactly the color of my natural lips. It’s my ultimate MLBB!

Rae: If you've known me long enough, you'd know what my ultimate lipstick pick would be: Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte in Tawny Pink. Tawny Pink is a pink brown mauve that is insanely pigmented. You don't know what pigmented means until you've tried at least one shade from this line. This is my go-to lipstick when I can't decide which lipstick to wear. I would say it's my holy grail my-lips-but-better lipstick.
