The beloved Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum has introduced some major innovations

Innisfree is a brand that is sure to be in every beauty enthusiasts’ radar for its numerous best-sellers and cult-faves. It’s no secret that their Green Tea skincare line is one of the brand’s most popular and enduring collections. Versatile and moisturizing Jeju Green Tea has been a fan favorite since its launch back in 2008, and the creme de la creme has always been the Green Tea Seed Serum (P690 for 30ml; P1,590 for 80ml) for its potent balancing and hydrating properties.

Well, part of what keeps this serum in the spotlight are the constant improvements to its formula. And this year, the latest (4th generation!) iteration is the best yet. Green Tea Biome is the new key ingredient, and it includes Tri-biotics with Pre-, Pro-, and Postbiotics to soothe and to beef up the skin’s moisture barrier. This new feature can be particularly helpful in the time of maskne, since a compromised barrier can cause the mask-covered area to become more prone to breakouts.

On the moisture front, this serum offers intensive hydration. The full ingredients list includes Green Tea Water and five types of Hyaluronic Acid in different sizes for a more deep-penetrating humectant function.

This isn’t actually my first time trying the Green Tea Seed Serum, so I’m glad to have a basis of comparison. The consistency of the 4th gen version does appear to be slightly thicker than its predecessors, though the cloudy coloring of the runny gels are essentially the same. I get about the same level of mild tackiness, so it's a relief to know that more Hyaluronic Acid types doesn't necessarily translate to stickiness once on the skin.

The next morning, I notice that the new formula has a softer, more emollient feel to the touch once it becomes fully absorbed. I have tried going to sleep with no other skincare products apart from this serum, and I don’t wake up with any pesky flakes. So, yes, it really is THAT hydrating.

One more difference I noticed was the scent. I'm used to the earlier version smelling sweeter like brewed iced tea, but this newer one seems to have a fruity-herbal twist that reminds me of guava. Not a huge leap, but more of a nuance.

Methinks longtime fans will not be disappointed with these changes, especially because you’re still getting a lightweight formula but with more moisture. And those previously unfamiliar with this hero product should add the Green Tea Seed Serum to their Kbeauty bucket lists. Considering how cutthroat the Korean skincare industry is, the longevity of this line is a pretty solid indicator of its tried and trusted status.

In time for this new release, Innisfree is offering a 3-piece skincare set that includes the full-sized serum, a 20ml jar of their Green Tea Seed Cream, and a 30ml tube of Green Tea Foam Cleanser for the same price. When you purchase the set in-store, you get a free eco-pouch. And when you shop their Lazada and Shopee channels, you get three free 15ml travel-sized vials of the Green Tea Seed Serum.

So have you tried this popular pick yet?

Innisfree is available online via their Call & Delivery Form and ShopSM or through their official stores on Shopee and Lazada.
