The best micellar cleansers to try right now

Recently, I noticed my skin changed dramatically. My previously oily, acne-prone skin is now a lot more sensitive than it used to be. The dry skin on my face was red, flaky and itchy! On my body, I started to develop itchy rashes on and off. To make matters worse, I recently found out that sensitive skin is also more vulnerable to germs because of a weaker skin barrier. This pushed me to switch my routine towards more gentle products and mild soaps.
Micellar water cleansers are a good option for me because they cleanse my skin thoroughly but gently. Here are some the micellar cleansers we love here at Project Vanity!
Safeguard Gentle Micellar Face and Body Cleanser (P199 for 400 ml/P339 for 720 ml) – Safeguard is best known for antibacterial soaps, which have a reputation of being harsh on the skin. On the contrary, this one cleanses my face without stripping it of moisture.
Bioderma Micellar Water (starts at P518 for 100 ml) – The OG brand that made micellar water popular. We’ve raved about this so many times. It comes in different variants, with the Sensibio being the most popular. It removes makeup well without irritating sensitive skin.
Garnier Micellar Water (starts at 149.75 for 125 ml) – This is a crowd favorite for a reason. At a very affordable price tag, this cleansing water removes even waterproof makeup easily.
Nivea MicellaAIR 3-in-1 Caring Cleanser (starts at P99 for 125 ml) – The Nivea Cleansing Water is another option that is light on the pocket. It never feels drying after use and removes light makeup also.
As for my body, there aren’t a lot of options in the supermarket for my sensitive and irritated skin. I’ve seen a few brands come up with micellar soap abroad, but none locally. It’s a good thing that Safeguard Gentle Micellar Cleanser can be used for both face and body. It’s because Safeguard micellar cleanser uses micellar technology to gently lift 99.9% of germs, dirt and oil! It has a texture that I’ve never encountered in a body wash before. It’s creamy but light, almost like it’s whipped. It also doesn’t leave behind an icky film feeling that I get with other creamy body washes. After using Safeguard body wash, my itchy rashes subsided! Thank goodness it saved me from buying a skin rash treatment. It’s dermatologically tested as well as alcohol and paraben-free. It comes in three variants: Coconut and Peach, Berries and Pear and Unscented for those who don’t like fragrances.
The Safeguard micellar cleanser actually feels gentler on my skin than the other micellar cleansers I’ve tried. Now I don’t have to choose between having a gentle cleanser and germ protection. I can have the best of both worlds!
