Naturals by Watsons makes organic ingredients more accessible and affordable

As a member of several beauty communities, I’ve noticed the different stages in a person’s dedication to beauty. It begins with a casual interest in cute products, followed by a more serious commitment like building a collection, and succeeded by being more aware of things like the ingredients that go into the products. If you’re part of the latter group, you might even find yourself questioning if all those other ingredients absolutely have to be in there.

In the face of the growing consciousness and selectiveness of beauty lovers when it comes to the quality and the composition of their beauty products, Watsons has stepped up to create the Naturals by Watsons collection that brings affordable bath and body products (ranging from P99 to P259) formulated with premium organic ingredients. Notably absent in the ingredients lists of this collection are potential (but not absolute) irritants such as parabens, mineral oil, silicone, SLS, colorants, soap, and isothiazolinone. And to make their actives twice as effective, two types of the featured organic ingredient was sourced to formulate each product.

As with their collagen skincare collection, there are several lines to choose from to suit specific needs. The deep moisturizing Olive line, formulated with organic olive oil and olive fruit extract from Italy, features shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, body scrub, body lotion, hand cream, and hair oil. Chef, blogger, and media personality, Stephanie Zubiri-Crespi, mentioned that this is her favorite line as her culinary background has made her fond of the multipurpose ingredient. The scent is invigorating with its fresh herbal notes with a hint of fruitiness.

A beauty fan-favorite for the last five years, the revitalising Argan line features argan oil and argan seed extract from Morocco. As this is quite a buzzy ingredient, Watsons went all out by creating argan shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, hair oil, body scrub, shower gel, body lotion, and hand cream for the complete experience. The products in this line come with a clean and refined powdery scent, reminiscent of soapy, just-showered smell.

Pinoys are all too familiar with the benefits of this succulent plant! The soothing Aloe Vera line, with UK-sourced aloe vera juice and USA-sourced aloe extract, can easily be incorporated as a staple in the beauty routine with the featured shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soothing gel, and hair and scalp tonic. If you’re familiar with your K-beauty aloe vera gels, this line has that same sweet floral scent.

Similar to the papaya but not quite, the repairing Paw Paw line with paw paw extract from Australia has restorative properties to help regenerate skin. That’s why the products in the line specifically cater to the skin: there’s the cream bath, body lotion, ointment, and hand cream. The scent can be described as floral-fruity papaya fragrance, improved by something woodsy to give it a slightly masculine edge.

In addition to being a good source of fiber, rice bran is known in the beauty world for its glow-enhancing properties on the skin. With rice bran extract and rice bran oil from Japan, the brightening Rice Bran line’s cream bath, body serum, hand cream, and body scrub are intended to even out skin tone for luminosity. I get whiffs of a relaxing floral-herbal concoction from this, something that I’d want to use before bed to help me unwind.

Does your hair need some TLC? The protecting Marula line contains marula oil and marula butter from Africa that helps tame tresses and strengthen them against breakage. The shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and hair oil share a subtle floral scent.

Finally, the rejuvenating Macadamia line with macadamia oil from Australia and macadamia extract from Spain consists of shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, and hair oil. These help bring back luster and life to dull, fine hair by rebalancing the moisture levels of hair.
