The anatomy of #Wokeuplikethis Makeup

Everybody has their own no-makeup makeup routine. But what's the difference between sloppy and good makeup if the look is designed to be so natural that it's almost unnoticeable? The secret is in the details. Everything must be seamless and harmonious; no one feature must stand out too much from the rest. Here's how to get serious with your #wokeuplike this (but not really) makeup! I'm using the contents of the Perfectly Pixi Glamourbox (P1,290) to show you guys what I mean.

Make your skin look like skin. Skincare of course is key to looking fabulous no matter what look you go for. The Pixi Glow Tonic is close to achieving cult fave status as it promises to exfoliate, tone, and firm the skin. I haven't tried it yet but I'm pretty convinced by the raves! After your skincare, skip the foundation if you can and stick to BB or CC creams instead. If you need the coverage, spot conceal your blemishes and use a light-reflecting, watery concealer for your eye bags.

Go for subtle, brightening colors. Leave your statement pieces in the drawer and opt for nudes instead. The Pixi Book Of Beauty: Minimal Makeup Palette is a wonderful selection of natural shades with a variety of finishes. It has two duo powders (one matte and one shimmer), two blushes (a peachy matte and nude shimmer), and two highlighters (cool champagne and white gold) which I used to do my eyebrows, eyeshadow, eyeliner, blush, contour, and highlight in this look. Don't we love multi-purpose palettes?

The blushes are sheer so you'll need to layer a bit, by the way. To tie up the colors, I used the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Sweet Peach which is a nice MLBB with a super hydrating texture.

Add the riiiiiight amount of contrast. Forget about black eyeliners and dressed up eyebrows for a while - use a matte brown powder to add contrast to your eyes instead. That way you get definition without the harsh look! I used the brown in the palette (first column, second row) to create natural shading around my eyes. I also used it to contour my nose.

Don't skip mascara as it makes all the difference. Just avoid thick, ultra black mascaras to keep your eyes balanced. I love the lashy yet clean look of the Pixi Lash Booster Mascara. I only applied a few strokes to get fanned-out, dare I say virginal lashes. This is hands-down my fave in the box!

Don't forget strategic highlighting. When placed in the right areas, highlighters can really elevate your pretty FOTD. I chose the golden highlighter in the palette and applied it on the bridge of my nose and cheekbones to reinforce the look of fresh skin.

And that is that. ^_^ What do you think of the Pixi box? How do you do your #wokeuplikethis face?
