Revlon Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick

Believe it or not, the Revlon Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick (P545) is the closest thing Revlon has to the Clinique Chubby Stick. Not their Kissable Balm Stain, which is more like the Chubby Stick Intense. Okay, that might sound kinda confusing if you're not that into makeup. :P What I'm trying to say is that the Super Lustrous Shine is a sheer, moisturizing tinted lip balm that feels and looks almost like the Chubby Stick!

Fine. If you applied one on me and didn't say what it was, I would totally think it's a Chubby Stick. I would even argue with you.

The classic black and gold packaging of the Super Lustrous line is deceiving, because if you'd just go by the name you would assume that this is just a shinier version of the SL lippies. No. The Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick is in a whole class of its own!

Emollient, smooth, and plush on the lips, SL Shine is incredibly moisturizing, just like lip balm. It has just enough color to even out the lips with a hint of tint but it's only buildable up to that point. The more intense shades, Fuchsia Shock and Rich Girl Red, could pass for lipstick, but they're still not full coverage.

These hydrating lippies have zero smell and taste. That's one more reason I liken them to the Chubby Sticks, aside from the pigmentation and feel.

Pink Cloud, Kissable Pink, Fuchsia Shock, Lovers Coral, Rich Girl Red

Pink Cloud is a very pale, milky pink. Not my color, obviously. It would look nice only if you have very fair skin.

Kissable Pink is a sheer basic pink. Not all that remarkable!

Lovers Coral is a pretty coral pink. I love this, I think it's great for the "no makeup" makeup! It has enough pigmentation to cover my lips but it's still very natural.

Fuchsia Shock this is a sheer fuchsia that's not at all shocking. :P Wear this if you love fuchsia but don't want to wear too much of it on your lips. It's the most popular color from this line!

Rich Girl Red is an apricot, effortless red. It leaves a nice stain when it's all gone.

What don't I like? Hm, these might be too sheer for some people and utterly useless if you have very pigmented lips, but I like that they can be used casually and that they don't dry my puckers out. I just wish that they come in different packaging, perhaps something more fun and infinitely less severe than these tubes. They look like pro makeup, when the actual product is quite casual.

Oh, the staying power is also not too good at only 1-2 hours. It's just like lip balm - you will need to retouch throughout the day!

The Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters are more pigmented and thicker/waxier than SL Shine. Go for the lip butter if you want more color, and Shine if you want something less lipstick-y and heavy.

Overall, I highly recommend the Revlon Super Lustrous Shine Lipstick if you like the concept of the Clinique Chubby Stick but not the price. These are great dupes! Try Lovers Coral for a barely there coral lip, or Fuchsia Shock for a fun pink lip that won't go overboard.

Thoughts? Is this a lipstick you'd go for?
