How to have a foot spa experience in your own home

We love going to spas to give ourselves a well-deserved treat, but sometimes we simply don’t have the time or the budget to indulge. That doesn’t mean we should skip on pampering sessions though! It’s important to de-stress and just relax when we have a small window of time at home. I recommend taking care of your feet in particular because they're the most abused part of our body - those who commute should know how walking and standing for hours can cause calluses and rough spots on the feet.

So how do you give them the love they deserve? Have a DIY foot spa at home! Here’s how.

Step 1: Set up the mood. Light up your favorite scented candle or oils. Put your favorite relaxing playlist on the speakers and let your thoughts wander for a bit. This is the time to forget about work, the people who make your life difficult, the problems that have no solutions (yet). Never underestimate the power of a great scent and music to allow you to get away from it all, even for a little bit!

Step 2: Cleanse your feet and after they are completely dry, file your callouses away with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi (P1,685). This best-selling electronic file will soften the skin of your feet immediately, removing icky tough skin efficiently and with zero discomfort. It has a specially-designed Micralumina roller head that gently grounds down hard spots far quicker than manual files. It’s pretty cool!

I like to focus on the inner fold and on the outer borders of my feet, where my callouses tend to form. I love how the Scholl Express Pedi smoothens them with zero hassle on my part. Saves me so many trips to the spa, too! This is definitely a must-have if you want to have rampa-worthy feet.

To get the best results, the Scholl Express Pedi must be cleaned every couple of uses. It’s easy! Here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Turn the unit off.
  2. Remove the roller from the unit by pressing the eject button on the side of the unit and gently pulling the roller away from the unit.
  3. Rinse the roller head under the tap.
  4. Clean the body of the unit with a clean damp cloth.
  5. Dry both the roller head and main unit with a clean dry cloth.
  6. Replace the roller and the protective cover.

Step 3: Put on your favorite foot mask for 20 minutes. Foot masks that come in individual packets are inexpensive, not to mention pretty effective! With feet softened by the Scholl ExpressPedi, your foot mask will work better since it doesn’t have to get through the hard skin anymore.

Step 4: Massage a moisturizing foot cream all over your soles and toes. This last step will nourish your skin and will further soften up your beautiful feet. Do a little massage for extra relaxation! Press your palms deeply into the soles to relieve muscle tension.

And that’s how you DIY a foot spa right at home. You can do this anytime you feel like you need to recharge and to give your feet some tender loving care. ^_^ Let me know how it was once you’ve tried it!

The Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi (P1,685) can be found inside select Watsons stores. You can purchase replacement roller heads at P550 for two in a pack. If you want more tips about caring for your feet, do like facebook.com/SchollPhilippines
