As someone mildly obsessed with collecting good face bases, I was intrigued by the Barenbliss Bloomatte Hi-Cover Foundation Balm (P699 for 12g). This new launch claims to offer everything from high coverage and long wear to a skincare-infused formula. After spending some quality time testing it out, here’s my in-depth take on whether it lives up to those claims.

First Impressions and Application

The Bloomatte Foundation Balm comes in a sleek, compact design with a cushion puff-style applicator included, making it travel-friendly and convenient for touch-ups on the go. Although the puff applicator does a decent job for a quick application, I prefer using a brush to achieve a more seamless and blended finish, especially given the medium to full coverage this balm provides.

Shade Range and Match

Currently, the foundation is available in three shades:

  • LN0 Oatmeal - For light skin with neutral undertone

  • MW1 Honey - For medium skin with warm undertone

  • TN1 Caramel - For tan skin with neutral undertone

I opted for LN0 Oatmeal, which is the lightest and designed for light skin with a neutral undertone. While it was the closest match to my skin tone, it was still a half shade too pale. The limited shade range is a drawback, as it means not everyone will find their perfect match, especially with such a pigmented, full-coverage product.

Texture and Finish

The texture is where the Bloomatte Foundation Balm truly shines. It boasts a creamy consistency that transforms into a powdery texture and matte finish upon application. This cream-to-powder transition is impressive, providing a matte finish that manages to blur out imperfections, minimize pores, and control shine—ideal for the heat and humidity we often face.

Wear and Longevity

In terms of staying power, this foundation held up for about four hours before I noticed any need for touch-ups, and even then, it was minimal. With a setting powder and spray, it lasted well beyond that, making it a reliable option for long days. Its claim of being waterproof and transfer-proof holds well, which is a huge plus for anyone wearing masks regularly.

Formula and Skin Benefits

The foundation is enriched with skin-loving ingredients like Korean Rapeseed Oil and the Miracle Bloom Essence, which includes extracts from Hibiscus, Magnolia, Chamomile, Centella, and Calendula. These ingredients aim to hydrate and calm the skin, although I would caution those with very dry skin, as the matte finish might accentuate dry patches.

SPF and Protection

Another significant advantage is the inclusion of SPF 50+ PA+++, providing substantial protection against harmful UV rays. This addition makes the foundation an excellent option for daytime wear, eliminating the need for a separate sunscreen and streamlining your morning routine.

Overall, the Barenbliss Bloomatte Hi-Cover Foundation Balm is worth checking out if you’re looking for a foundation balm. It offers a durable, matte finish with added skincare benefits and robust sun protection. While I do hope for an expanded shade range to cater to more skin tones, this product is a solid choice for those with combination to oily skin looking for coverage, comfort, and longevity. If you’re in the market for a new foundation that can keep pace with your busy lifestyle while keeping your skin looking even, this might just be worth a try!
