Better Than Basic: Everything you need to know about the new Careline

As a teen with a student's allowance, I loved haunting department store makeup sections for beauty finds that fit into my limited budget. That's how I discovered Ever Bilena’s “little sister”, Careline Cosmetics. The cutesy packaging and affordable price made it the perfect jump-off point for a beginner’s makeup adventure! I've long since moved on to more "grown up" brands so it was exciting to get reacquainted with Careline, now looking better than ever.

At the recent relaunch event, the brand introduced the Careline Girl Gang led by young actress and Careline's newest face, Andrea Brillantes. The five girls embody the youthful and fun spirit of the revamped Careline. They know what’s on trend and are active participants in social media. Megu Demetrio, Alyana Chapman, Azusa Masu, and Regine Lacanienta are actually winners of the Careline Girl Gang Search so these fresh new faces are helping the brand to better connect and engage with the online-savvy teens.

I like that the new blocky yellow packaging feels accessible whether you’re a tween or in your thirties. The newly launched Matte Liquid Lipsticks (P195 introducory price) in their silver capped tubes are getting intense buzz because of the trendy colors (12 shades in all) and good formulation. These lippies are pigmented, lightweight, fast-drying, and long lasting!

They even have Melted Metallic Lipsticks (P195 introductory price) in three dazzling shades! They apply creamy then dry down to a flat metal finish. The shades are pigmented enough to wear on their own but they also look lovely when used as a topper for the matte lippies. Both lipstick formulas are paraben-free.

And while old favorites like the Careline Jelly Tint (P120), the Careline Macaron Lip Balm (P85), and the Careline Pocket Palettes (P90) are still available, we got a sneak peek on upcoming products that will be released later this year until next year!

They have new mascaras coming for when you want to Go Long! or Go Big! (P185 each). They also have the Graph-Ink Liner (P170) which is pigmented in a single swipe, doesn't bleed, and dries matte.

What I’m personally most excited about are the sticks! They have a Blur Stick, a Brighten Stick, a Strobe Stick, a Contour Stick, and two Blush Sticks in Peach and Rose. These are ultra-portable and easy to apply. The swatches also looked good and just made me want to get my hands on them soonest! I got to try out the Blur Stick on my face and it made the shine disappear, though I think the product is meant to function as a clear primer

I got to road test three of the liquid lipsticks and though Pop is my favorite shade, all three performed quite well. Live Wire lasted four hours on me before I subjected it to a major food fest. I have a feeling it can last longer if I’m a bit more careful when eating.

Careline is definitely prepping for more exciting times ahead! If these new products are indicative of what’s to come, then Careline is truly going for better than basic by keeping up with the hottest releases in the beauty world. The products are easy to use even for makeup newbies, plus the on-trend shades will surely appeal even to beauty veterans.

What do you think of Careline's new look? Do you have a favorite among their products? Have you tried their all-new liquid lipsticks?
