The Budget-Friendly Multi-Tasker: Careline Serum Water Tint Review

Photography by Perkin Gotohio

Careline has always been the go-to drugstore brand for teens, but honestly their products are good enough to warrant a spot in an adult’s makeup kit. The products are affordable and they work really well, too! They’ve also expanded their collection with lots of new SKUs, but they still focused on leveling up one of their core products: their tints. They just released something new, so here’s what I think of the new Careline Serum Water Tint (P195).

First off, the price point. At just P195, it's a steal for a product that promises (and delivers) multipurpose functionality. Whether you're dabbing it on your lips, cheeks, or even your eyelids, it's incredibly versatile. The formula is infused with Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid, it's a game-changer for those of us who struggle with dryness, especially when it comes to lip products. Unlike other water tints that can leave your lips feeling pruny, this one actually maintains moisture, thanks to that nourishing layer it leaves on top. It’s a relief to have a tint that doesn’t just sit on your lips but cares for them.

The application is another high point. It has a watery texture that glides on evenly across the lips, avoiding that frustrating patchiness or concentration of color that some tints are notorious for. And on the cheeks? Just as impressive. The colors might seem intense at first glance, but they blend out to a soft, natural flush. Just remember, a little goes a long way.

Speaking of colors, let's dive into the shades. They’re vivid and bold, yet wearable:

  • Periodt – a statement maker, this is a deep pinkish red.

  • Glow Up – a classic ruby red that’s perfect for that touch of elegance.

  • Vibe Check – an amber red that’s a bit edgy and totally on-trend.

  • Sheesh – a brown red that’s wonderfully versatile for all skin tones.

  • Boujee – a dark cherry red that’s almost vampiric

Blended out, the colors show their true render

Each shade has its own personality, and they’re all buildable, depending on how dramatic you want your look to be. Use a tiny amount for a sheer tint or go all out with a full layer. And the staying power? Pretty decent for a water tint. It leaves a light stain even after a meal or a drink, which is always a bonus. I personally like to use these on my lips AND cheeks at the gym since I know they won’t smear around when I sweat.

Overal, the Careline Serum Water Tint is a budget-friendly, multi-use gem. It’s perfect for those who love a pop of color but also don’t want to spend too much time achieving it. Whether you're a makeup newbie or a seasoned pro looking for an affordable addition to your kit, this one's worth checking out.
