The new EB Advance Power Paint's water-resistant formula and beautiful colors make it a winner

EB Advance, Ever Bilena’s more sophisticated sister, has an exciting new release called the EB Advance Power Paint Multi-Use Color Cream (P199 at Lazada). It comes in four wearable shades that are formulated to be used on the eyes, cheeks, and lips. Before we go on the full review though, I think it’s important to address the elephant in the room! Yes it looks almost exactly like the Glossier Cloud Paint, but that’s pretty much where the sameness end.
I do believe that EB Advance can do better by coming out with a more unique look for the component - different colors, a more exciting design - so I look forward to when they do that next time. Perhaps with the next shades of Power Paint? I really believe that fans of this affordable brand will still go for their products even if the look is not as recognizable as another cult favorite product. It’s a missed opportunity not to play around with the packaging, so I really hope they’ll go for something truly original in the future.
That being said, other than the packaging, the formula of the cream itself is completely different from Glossier’s Cloud Paint. Cloud Paint is a watery gel tint. The texture is a tad runny and the coverage is translucent and not quite buildable. You’ll get a pretty tint on the cheeks (it’s meant to be a blush) but it’s not quite suited to be a lip or eye color. Gel tints have existed before Cloud Paint of course. I know Glossier copied the Etude House Water Color Blusher in terms of component and formula naman.
The EB Advance Power Paint is actually a dense, ultra pigmented mousse-y cream. Imagine a mousse-type liquid lipstick, that’s exactly how it feels. It’s designed to be A LOT easier to blend though; there’s plenty of give even with only a tiny dot of the product. You’ll be surprised how far it spreads around even with only a sheer layer! It’s also completely buildable. You can start with a soft hint of color, or immediately go all out with a full opaque layer in one layer. That’s what makes it so versatile.
Actually now that I’m talking about it, what this formula reminds me the most is the Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Color Paint! Like the MUFE Paint EB Advance’s Power Paint is highly water and oil-resistant. Once it sets, it SETS. It’s difficult to rub off even when you run it under water. This is the perfect formula to wear under a mask. Of course, if you’ve been sweating straight for over an hour under a mask, it will start to fall apart on the cheeks, but it will definitely remain on the lips as long as the mask doesn’t rub heavily. Without a mask, you can expect the formula to stay on for 5-6 hours on the cheeks and eyes and 4-5 hours on the lips.
There are four shades available, and all of them are beautiful. Chiffon is a dusty pink, Sangria is a muted sienna red, Amber is an orangey peach pink, and Scarlet is a pink-toned red. They all look great on me but I would say Scarlet is such a winner. It’s the perfect power red for me! It also sheers out beautifully as a pinkish stain too.
Here’s a look that I did using Amber on my eyes as an eyeshadow, Sangria on the cheeks, and Scarlet as a fully opaque lip color. I have to emphasize that the Power Paint is definitely beyond just a lip and cheek tint; this performs amazingly well as eyeshadow too! It doesn’t even require a primer; this can be the primer for your entire eye makeup if you wish.
Overall, while I don’t love the lack of originality in the packaging, the formula of the EB Advance Power Paint is definitely worth more than the 199-peso price tag. Give it a try if you’re looking for a truly multi-use color product.
