Lip Swatches + Review: The EB Plus Serum Tinted Lip Balm (With Five New Shades!)

Product photography by Perkin Gotohio

Let me preface this review by saying that I have an instant bias for colored lip balms. If I can only wear one lip formula for the rest of my life, it would be a moisturizing lip balm that delivers a generous amount of color. Almost like a lipstick - but not quite there yet in terms of opacity. I want something that has coverage, but still casual, and the focus should mainly be on keeping my lips moisturized for as long as possible. The EB Plus Serum Tinted Lip Balm (P245 regular price) is EXACTLY what I’m looking for in terms of an everyday lip product.

This is actually an old formula but they just released five new shades today. The five new shades are Roseate, Hibiscus, Cherry, Her, and Boysenberry currently only available on TikTok Shop. I have tried it before, but is it just me or is this re-release a better version? It’s more glossy and substantially moisturizing than the previous version. I felt that the previous version had a stiffer texture. In any case, this batch is much better and I love how it keeps my lips hydrated but not feeling smeared with oil.

This is a balm, so don’t expect it to stay all day - I give it three to three and a half hours on my lips if I don’t touch it. It will fade when you eat or drink, but there will be a little color left after so your lips are not fully naked IF you’re wearing the deeper colors. If you’re wearing the lighter shades, then you won’t see leftover color after a meal. I like the compact size of it because I prefer to carry my lip color of the day in my pocket to retouch whenever I need to. Staying power is not as important to me if I’m wearing a balm; it only super matters when I have an opaque lipstick on and I can’t retouch easily.

The shade selection of this particular line is commendable. I like that there are some warm colors, cooler pinks, berries, reds. It’s a good mix! Each shade looks markedly different from one another; I always feel frustrated when this is not the case, especially among Filipino brands. I can honestly say that I love every single color here and will be keeping them all in my kit. If I had to choose just one though, I’d go with Roseate. It’s a new shade, elegant but still youthful.

And now, the catch, because of course there is a catch. This applies with a bit of drag (kind of like a Dior lip balm if you’ve tried one before), which is totally fine except the lip balm will tilt to the side if you push up the stick too far out from the rim. The base is a bit soft. Gets? So only push out the exact amount you need if you don’t want the balm stick to break off. I hope this is improved upon by EB in the future.

Otherwise, the EB Plus Serum Tinted Lip Balm is an excellent formula that I will be keeping in my kit for the foreseeable future. It’s just exactly the kind of lip product I gravitate towards, and I already know that this is going to be my next must-have lip formula for travel. Check it out!
