Love At First Swipe: The Ever Bilena Pillow Pop Liquid Blush

This story is made in partnership with Ever Bilena

In case you were living under a rock (nothing wrong with that, rocks are nice), then you know that Ever Bilena is not your mama’s makeup brand anymore. They’ve been coming out with some exciting new formulas in beautiful shades that are designed to be well-loved in your daily makeup wardrobe, and I for one can’t wait for the next batch of releases! They don’t have as many shades as other local brands per collection but I appreciate how thoughtful each one is. Ever Bilena knows who their customer is and what they need - I respect that.

One release that immediately jumped out to me is the Ever Bilena Pillow Pop Liquid Blush (P275 for 15g). Pillow Pop is a gel-base liquid color that is easy to blend with just fingers, and while it is meant as a blush, it can definitely be used on the lips and lids as well. I’m not going to mince my words: this is very similar to the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, which I reviewed previously. The gel texture, blendability, and light staining effect are comparable between Rare Beauty and Ever Bilena. I loved that RB blush! At over P1,300, I can’t argue with a P275 alternative. EB has 15 grams too, which is A LOT of product! I’ll probably never run out before it expires.

I love using Pillow Pop because it is a breeze to work with. The liquid feels bouncy to the touch and holds a lot of pigment, but not too much that I get anxious about the amount I apply. One solid dot per cheek is enough to get a good level of natural opacity! It’s quite easy to work onto the lids and lips as well as it doesn’t have an off-putting texture; it just feels like a normal gel stain. I also love that the staying power is pretty good on my combination oily skin. I’ve worn this blush for as long as eight hours with no retouch and there’s always some light color left over. On the lips, it can leave a bit of stain even after eating.

There are four shades available: Toast of New York (EB’s iconic color), a nutty terracotta; Fresno, a medium rosy pink; Rouge, a barbie pink; and Raspberry, a berry pink. I made a beeline for Fresno as soon as I saw it in the press kit and it was basically love at first sight. It’s the perfect pink for me - subtle but brightening! I also love it on my lips. It’s a quick color for me to use if I’m just going out to the mall but it’s also dressy enough (and photogenic enough) for a big event. I know I can rely on its staying power too.

Here’s a video of me showing off Fresno, my OTL:

And now, the cons: I do find that the neck of the bottle gets messy even though I’m careful with screwing the wand back on. I have to wipe it off every so often to prevent build up! I wish the doe foot applicator is just a tiny bit smaller so it’s easier to keep clean. I would also love this in a smaller travel size someday because it’s a bit bulky to bring around due to the packaging. This type of tube (double-walled by the looks of it) is bigger than it really needs to be.

And that is that! Overall, I highly recommend the Ever Bilena Pillow Pop Liquid Blush if you’re looking for a new blush that’s a no-brainer in your kit. It’s easy to use, it’s pretty, lasts all day (and probably for years more given the amount of product insie), and affordable. You’ll have to pry my Fresno from my cold dead fingers! Let me know what you think in the comments.
