Hello Glow Niacinamide Brightening Facial Scrub: Budget-Friendly, Low pH, and Effective

The Hello Glow Niacinamide Brightening Facial Scrub (P245 / 100g) was released just a couple of weeks ago and I think it’s worth a look. This is a well-rounded addition to any skincare routine, and I feel like it packs a punch beyond the P245 price tag. Let’s run through it!

First off, this is a low foam facial wash. A small amount goes a long way; you really don’t need your cleansers to foam up too much in any case. One of the standout features of this scrub is its use of super fine cellulose beads. Unlike traditional plastic microbeads, cellulose beads are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. They provide gentle exfoliation, effectively lifting impurities and excess sebum without causing damage to the skin. This makes it an excellent choice for those who want to exfoliate regularly without the risk of irritation.

The Hello Glow scrub has a pH level of 5-5.5, which is ideal for maintaining the skin’s natural acid mantle. Low pH cleansers are generally better for the skin as they help maintain this protective barrier, preventing dryness, irritation, and breakouts. A balanced pH ensures that the skin remains hydrated and resilient against environmental stressors.

In my experience, the Hello Glow Niacinamide Brightening Facial Scrub performs well as a hydrating facial wash. It leaves my skin feeling fresh and not tight. The super fine cellulose beads provide a mild exfoliation that’s ok for daily use; although it’s still best to rotate it with non-exfoliating cleanser every other day. It’s useful for when your skin is flaky or your pores are clogged, but if these aren’t so much of an issue, you can use a normal non-scrub wash.

The niacinamide is a thoughtful addition, but its benefits in a wash-off product are limited. Still, it’s a nice touch for those who want an added layer of skincare benefits in their cleanser.

For me, there’s one aspect that could use a little tweak: the floral fragrance. It’s a bit overwhelming, and reducing it could elevate this scrub to a more luxurious feel. I’m also okay with scentless.

Overall, the Hello Glow Niacinamide Brightening Facial Scrub is a solid option for those seeking an affordable, mild, and non-drying exfoliating cleanser. Its thoughtful formulation and eco-friendly approach make it a standout in its price range. If you’re looking for a gentle yet effective daily scrub, this one’s definitely worth a try!
