Staff Picks: Pan porn (totally SFW) of our absolute favorite things
Now, before you get thoroughly scandalized, the only "exposure" you'll see here are those of our most-abused makeup! "Pan porn" is a popular description for makeup products that you've literally hit pan on from regular usage, thus exposing the shiny metal bottom. It's titillating for us PV girls because it's a totally justifiable excuse for us to go out and buy some new makeup! (Am I right or am I right?)
It's just so much more satisfying to see products getting used up compared to squeezing a bottle and suddenly finding it empty, which can cause some low-key panic if you don't have backups. Besides, most pan products are powders that seem to take forever to use up, especially in the case of eyeshadows! If you've been feeling antsy about how slowly you use up your compacts and palettes, we're sharing some of our own pan porn for your motivation!
Den: Apart from brow products, I almost never use up any makeup because I only wear it about twice a week. It's honestly taken me years to make this much of a dent on these products! I don't really use powder foundation and prefer to set my makeup with loose finishing powder but when I end up with a sunscreen formula that creates a white cast and feels sticky, I apply a layer of Revlon's Age Defying with DNA Advantage Powder to correct it. The silky texture and soft, luminous finish works well for my dry skin.
I remember buying this In2it Waterproof Eye Colour Set because I couldn't find the brow palette version. The dark chocolate shade actually has shimmer but it's not very apparent once on my brows. I'm trying to go for a lighter brow color these days but I still like using this to fill the super sparse parts of my brows.
Finally, I've been using no other blush apart from Happy Skin's Get Cheeky With Me in Summer Fling but it's so hard to completely use it up! The peachy orange shade is fairly pigmented so I don't need to apply much for the color to show. I've been trying to speed up the process by using it as an eyeshadow, too, and it works pretty well for doing extremely quick, single-color eye makeup!
Crystal: I did a lot more than just hit pan on my Cargo Matte Bronzer - I used it so much that the powder crumbled already and I'm just using whatever is left. Benefit Bella Bamba is one of my favorite pinks because it's a warm, shimmery pink that doesn't need highlighter anymore. I also hit pan on my Wet N' Wild eyebrow powder. I find powders to be the easiest eyebrow product to use when in a hurry, and this one lasts fairly long on my skin.
Gett: I’m happy to report that I’ve finally hit pan on my F&S Single Eyeshadow in Cinnamon Mousse, a grayish brown shade. I use it mostly as eyebrow powder, but I also like to use it for contour and of course eyeshadow. It’s so matipid to use because it has great pigmentation, and I’m so glad I finally made a dent after a year of usage!
I’ve also made some progress on my Holika Holika Gudetama eyeshadows. While I haven’t hit pan on any of them, I’ve made a dent in the powders (just not that deep yet so it isn’t clear in the photo).
Claire: I love me my powders! I've hit pan on two powder foundations: Happy Skin Don't Get Mad Get Even Hydrating and Shiseido Perfect Smoothing. I'd also hit pan on two pressed powders: Wet n Wild Coverall and L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte. My Too Cool for School Artclass by Rodin Shading is dented in the middle, obviously my most used shade of the three.
Stacie: Pan porn is the type of porn I like watching and making, and I would like to call myself the kween of pan porn! I haven't been buying makeup lately so I've hit pan on a lot of my products, and dents on two others.
First is Too Faced Chocolate Bar's Champagne Truffle, which only serves one purpose: as my inner corner/aegyosal highlight. The brown on top in my Tony Moly Cristal Blusher in #7 which I usually use for nose and eye contour. The white power is the Innisfree No Sebum Powder Pact which is so good at setting makeup! Below that is the Etude House Lovely Cookie Blusher in Grapefruit Jelly which I bought because PONY loves it. I like how cool-toned this pink is, and the pastel hue brings out a very lovely feel to my cheeks. Beside that is a dented Mustaev Single Eyeshadow in Blooming Peach which I love applying to my eyelids or as blush. It's a peach with golden sheen. To the left of that is an eyeshadow from Essence in Metropolitan. It's a red brown with silver specks perfect for my outer corners or as eyeliner.
Below that is a single eyeshadow from The Face Shop in Toast which I also love to apply all over my lids and a bit on my undereyes to make my eyes deeper. Beside that is another eyeshadow from Mustaev in shade Cocoa which I apply on my hairline to make it look cleaner while decreasing the length of my forehead. Lastly, the lowermost powder is my pabebe blush, the Tony Moly Cheektone in Milky Violet. I only started regularly using it last October and it seems like I'm gonna hit pan real soon!
Have you hit pan on any of your powder or cream products recently? What made you reach for that product so often? We hope our pan porn inspires you to make some of your own! ;)
