The first two months of the year have been slow in terms of beauty releases but little did we know, it was just the calm before the storm! As we celebrate National Women’s Month this year, our local beauty brands seem to be keeping us on our toes with new launches left and right.

It’s crazy to think that January is already coming to a close. And with that, I hope you’re 2023 is going fabulous so far. In the world of beauty, there’s always something new each week, which just adds to the overall excitement and gratitude of being alive. Happy New Year, PV Community! It’s 2023 and my, I am so excited for what beauty has in store - quite literally, too - for us this year! Before we dive into the first beauty roundup this year, any beauty resolutions? Mine’s simple - to wear makeup more! I should probably challenge myself to wear makeup every single day - similar to what fellow writer Abiele Bernardo did last year! 

Are you ready for December? I don’t think I am. I still don’t have my Christmas tree up. I haven’t selected my gift wrapper for this year. I don’t even have my holiday red lipsticks in order yet! Hey, PV Community! How’s it going? I don’t mean to shock you, but the first quarter of 2022 is about to come an end. I know, I know - where did the time go, right? Speaking of time, it’s time for another roundup of what’s new in beauty.

I know it’s no surprise how time flies, but my, oh, my! January’s almost over! Since we’re about to welcome the month of love, I’m curious to know what beauty product you’ve been loving this month. If you haven’t been loving anything lately, then perhaps one of the products below might be for you.

You know the holidays are just around the corner when there’s a sudden influx of beauty releases. After all, beauty is a gift that keeps on giving. Speaking of giving, it’s that time again - it’s time for me to give you what’s new in the beauty industry, both local and international.

During my teen years in the early aughts, most of the scented beauty products like skincare and body care were typically floral-scented. You could say that it was the bouquet heyday. Fruity fragrances were often marketed towards kids and pre-teens, while gourmand scents had a not so low-key boudoir association. (Remember Jessica Simpson’s Dessert Beauty? Because I sure do!)

When it comes to base makeup, I used to either wear a medium to full coverage foundation or skip it entirely. It wasn’t until this year that I fell in love with tinted moisturizers and skin tints. Because almost everything is done online now, I started gravitating towards base products that are sheer and easy to apply. Also, if I have to go out, I want to let my skin breathe, and since tinted moisturizers and skin tints usually have SPF, all the more reason to wear them.

Can you believe we’ve just entered ber month season? Talks about the holiday season have already started, and that’s no surprise because we truly celebrate Christmas the longest. Speaking of celebrate, we’re celebrating these beauty releases this week from some of our favorite brands!

The blk Sunkissed Collection is inspired by the different shades of the sunset, mostly warm colors that will give you a "post-vacation glow, minus the sunburn." From this new collection, I was drawn towards the new shades of the Creamy All-Over Paints since I had a good impression with the Glow shade included in the Blk Bridal Collection. These new releases are marketed as mask-proof and multi-use for the face, eyes, and lips so here's how they fared IRL.

Most of us are stuck indoors for the rest of summer, yes, but the tropical fun doesn't have to be shoved to the side and forgotten, yes? blk Cosmetics' Wondermelon Edit captures summer fun all year round with a skincare collection that feels as refreshing as it looks! The products contain watermelon seed oil that refreshes and hydrates. Here's the report of what I've tried!

Project Vanity writer Firas Abboud declared in his story, “Makeup knows no gender, so every makeup product is technically universal.” I can’t agree more! I think everyone should not be judged when they wear cosmetics, no matter how they identify, or their age, or how their body is. Everyone is allowed to be more beautiful in all the ways that make them feel so! I think that’s why local brand blk Cosmetics, Anne Curtis and Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez’s brain child, hit a nerve when they launched the first Universal collection last year.
