Rediscovering The Body Shop's Tea Tree Line: Recyclable Packaging and Enhanced Formula

Classics resonate with us because of their timeless appeal and consistent performance, earning an esteemed place in our routines. The Body Shop stands out as one such iconic brand. Championing cruelty-free beauty since 1976, it has nurtured Filipino skin for over 25 years. Many of us, navigating the turbulent times of puberty, turned to their tea tree products as a sanctuary against acne. I, too, vouched for The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil (P550/10ml) to target and soothe my acne blemishes. Excitingly, The Body Shop's renowned Tea Tree line has now been reimagined and revamped, making it even more interesting than before!

The Beauty Edit spearheaded the launch, assembling media professionals and industry experts to delve into the refreshed Tea Tree line. Nicole Morales of The Beauty Edit, alongside Emily Sia-Koa from The Body Shop, unveiled the brand's innovative ingredient responsible for the revamp. Get this: the Tea Tree line now boasts the inclusion of salicylic acid!

Dr. Mara Padilla Evangelista-Huber, a respected dermatologist, presided over the Q&A session during the launch. She illuminated on how salicylic acid, when added, naturally enhances the product's performance, as it helps to reduce blemishes over time. Tea tree, known for its natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory traits, battles the root causes of acne, whereas salicylic acid helps fade marks from prior blemishes.

Dr. Mara advises us to "strive for health, not perfection." Given the unique skin responses of every individual, she appreciates the line's versatility, catering to diverse skin types and needs. She mentioned options like the Clearing Face Wash (P895/250ml) for sensitive skin, the Tea Tree Oil For Skin (P550/10ml) for occasional spots, and the  3-in-1 Wash, Scrub & Mask (P1095/125ml) for those contending with frequent acne.

In addition to the enhanced formula, The Body Shop has reintroduced the Tea Tree line in 100% recyclable packaging, consistent with their status as a B Certified Corporation. This certification signifies that they adhere to the utmost standards of social and environmental responsibility in their products and services. Through their community fair trade program, they ensure ingredients are sustainably sourced, collaborating with partner farmers in rural Kenya. This approach not only emphasizes responsible sourcing but also positively impacts the lives of these farming communities.

To put the new formula to the test my husband volunteered to use the Skin Clearing Face Wash (P895/250ml) once a day to target his blemishes.

Before

After

Safe to say he’s a happy camper! After a few days of using the facial wash, his skin is less inflamed and his active acne has dried up without becoming scaley or irritated. With continued use the salicylic acid should help to lighten the dark spots left behind. He’s a convert and has now taken my tea tree products for himself.

Try the new formula for yourself! The Body Shop products are available on their official website, Lazada, Shopee, and in physical stores nationwide.
