FOTD + OOTD: The little white dress
I love little white dresses, but they don't love me back. You see white is such an unforgiving color on less proportioned body types like mine. It can highlight bulges that no one even knows existed and make the body look much wider than it actually is. That's why I *try* to avoid white outfits, just to be safe!
Well, knowing all that, I still buy white dresses just because. They are so fresh to look at. There's something about wearing white that speaks elegance, clazz, and how good you are in kung fuing your way out of a ketchup stain. Fine, wine stain.
FOTD + OOTD: Blue waves
Hi guys! I just want to share a look that I'm particularly proud of, mainly because I haven't done anything like it before. It was inspired by the dress I wore and since I was going to a party I thought I'd be more adventurous. I had so much fun with this look!
Celine dress / Parfois heels / Pinkbox necklace and bangle / Marc by Marc Jacobs hobo bag
So! I concocted a blue, green, and brown eye, matched by MLBB lips so as not to overdo things. I lined my lower lids heavily with brown eyeshadow and connected it to the extended eye shape. I listed the details and the eyeshadow diagram below. :D

OOTD: Ocean deep
I've been thinking of the ocean lately. I want to go on a vacation, but I don't know where! Boracay is easy but I don't like the main beach there. Plus I prefer somewhere we can drive to. Any suggestions? Where are your favorite beaches?
Folded & Hung shirt | Greenhills skirt | Ferretti pumps | Pinkbox bangle | Parfois necklace
Anyhoo, I just want to share an ocean-inspired outfit I wore the other day. I assisted a magazine writer (and friend) as she pulled out items from our stores. No joke, that job is HARD.
FOTD + OOTD: Lilac florals
I haven't been able to indulge myself with makeup since I'm quite in a rush lately. There are so many looks I want to try, but I simply don't have to time to sit down and do them right now! :( I usually just have a basic face on, the quickest I can do while still looking presentable. Thank god for bright lipsticks.
My lipstick-of-the-moment is Colour Collection's Paradise Pink. It's a great summer pink in my book!
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation, Cinema Secrets Concealer, Clinique loose powder, Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil in Walnut Brown, Majolica Majorca Perfect Automatic Liner, Avon SuperMagnify Mascara, NARS Laguna Bronzer, NARS blush in Super Orgasm
Easy peasy. As for the rest of the look, here are some blurry photos! Sorry about that. I didn't get my camera to properly focus. I wore this yesterday to the office then to a facial. I thought it was going to rain hard so I wore jeans, but it didn't, so what the hey it's still a great pair of jeans. :P

OOTD: Newly minted
Hey folks! Hope you had a great weekend. I did - I just marathoned Terra Nova and The Secret Circle. Very relaxed, with work the last thing on my mind! Anyway, I just wanted to share an outfit I wore last Thursday. It was so very hot that day, so I kept myself cool with a chiffon top and skirt.
I didn't bother taking a picture of my makeup since it was super simple. Eyeliner, huge lashes, some contour, then a bright pink lipstick did the job. It was too hot for anything else!

FOTD + OOTD: Summer green
I was crazy about green these past couple of weeks, but now I am feeling an orange mood coming up. You must think weirdly of me, going on and on about colors no? But one thing that defines me is my affinity with colors. I love colors, moreso when it comes to using them to express myself and improve my mood. Even my dog comes in a great color (red sable!).
So! This is the look I wore last Thursday to a couple of casual meetings. The star color is green, of course, with touches of tan and bronze on my face and outfit. The bright pink bag is just a pretty afterthought.
Redhead dress/ SM belt/ Parfois bag/ Pinkbox bangle/ Adora earrings/ Charles & Keith shoes
The makeup looks quite bare, since I went for a nude lip, bronze cheeks, and a simple green-gold eye makeup.
FOTD + OOTD: Shifting
I've had this Rajo Laurel x Plains & Prints shift dress for quite a long while now, but this is the first time I'm showing it here. Odd, because I wear it all the time! At least thrice a month, methinks. It's the perfect frock for meetings, but it's also something you can dress up for cocktails or even something casual.

Yeah I know I can't pose to save my life, but I hope you get the idea. :) I see many, many happy years with this particular piece.
Anyway, here's the makeup I wore with it. I thought I'd feature this lovely eyeshadow palette from VMV Hypoallergenics called Morning After - it's the perfect duo for a light smoky eye that can be worn during the day.
OOTD: Lilac and tan
Fashion blogging is way, way harder than it looks! I took a lot of photos of this outfit but I only ended up with two that I could use. In theory it should be easy - I mean how hard is it to just stand and pose? But there's more to it, I find.

FOTD + OOTD: Sunny
Like I promised yesterday, I wore red lipstick when I went out. I was feeling a bit adventurous so I put on bright purple eyeshadow along with it too! I've seen this look in a lot of magazines before, so I thought why the hell not. It actually works but you really have to be 100% confident about it.
As for the outfit, it was super hot and sunny yesterday so I dressed with maximum comfort and cheeriness in mind. I also wore my new Charles & Keith heels, which I got on sale.

Can I just say, my diet is working! Didn't eat carbs for a week, then now I'm incorporating vegetables and fruits. The weight loss is quick, although I really have to start exercising again. For strength.
Now, for the makeup!
FOTD + OOTD: The story is in the color
I seriously can't count just how many times I've worn this old rose secretary blouse. I've had it for two years now, I think? It goes with so many of my skirts and pants, makes my arms and tummy look thin because of its billowiness, and the color is just romantic.
Btw, I finally found a spot in our place where I can take outfit photos. It is such a relief. I always make an effort to dress up to work and event stuff, but I never get to take photos because I'm too shy to ask other people to take my shot in public. At least here I won't feel as self-conscious.

I wore this to a model go-see at the Pinkbox headquarters. I just went for a casual, soft look - not too dressed up as it's a Saturday after all! The makeup was also subdued and harmonized with the color story.

FOTD + OOTD: My birthday look
Yesterday I was at Makati Shangri-La for a one-on-one interview with Maggie and Annie Ford-Danielson, the global brand ambassadors of Benefit. It was such at treat! The girls we're sweet and approachable, so I felt comfortable asking them questions. I'm still working on the story so stay tuned!
Phone cam, hence the quality. Also caught in mid-blink. Hay.
Anyway, I wore a dress from Vestito, which I've had since December. I just never figured out a way to wear it without looking like a wedding sponsor (the matron kind) but I finally got a brilliant idea. What if I tied it with a lace ribbon? My shape came out and the dress fell nicely. Success.
Vestito dress / Ferretti necklace and shoes / Pinkbox bangle
Simple but chic, I think. As for my makeup I did a light smoky eye with my Bobbi Brown Tortoise Shell Palette in Sand and a loud like with Sleek True Color Lipstick in Mystic.

FOTD + OOTD: What I wore to the Bloggers United Bazaar
I was so busy running around during the Bloggers United Bazaar last Saturday, which means that I can't write any useful post on it. Nonetheless, I just want to say that I had so much fun! I got to meet a few sweet Project Vanity readers, plus a lot of people dropped by the Ferretti booth to buy and look around.
Anyway! I just want to share what I wore to the event. I went for something simple because IT WAS SO HOT OUTSIDE and I wanted to be comfortable at the venue. Thanks to Paul for the photo!

As for the makeup, it was in keeping with the black/ taupe color theme. Here's how I did it!

How to dress for a job interview
Job interviews are nerve-wracking encounters especially if you really, really want the job. There's even more pressure because you know that you're not the only one after it, what with hundreds of equally (or even more) qualified candidates out to get into the same industry if not the same job. So how do you get it?
The no-brainer answer is, make sure that you have developed the right skill sets for the position (this is what college is for surprise surprise). Be fluent and relaxed while your potential employer is talking to you. Smile a lot. Look 'em in the eye and mean everything you say. But that's the thing with no-brainers - everybody knows (or should know) this! The real question should be: how do you set yourself apart from being just another person who wants a job?
I believe that *part* of the answer lies in how you dress, rather, in how you phsyically present yourself to a potential employer. I think that few new graduates or even old hands know how to properly dress for a job interview. I see them on the streets of business districts and I already know they're looking for employment; it is, to put it mildly, unimpressive. Familiar with this uniform? With matching brown envelope?
This outfit says, "I am not a creative person. I am probably competent as my resume will tell you but don't expect any initiative or new ideas from me. I will say yes to everything you say even if I don't agree with it." To me, at least. It's a hasty generalization, sure, but you have to admit that anyone who wears this to a job interview looks instantly uninspiring.
So that's the trick: look inspired. Look sharp. Look smart. Walk your talk (literally with great shoes). That's how you dress for a job interview. And here are more tips!
- Learn as much about the company as you can and dress to match that company's culture. Google is your friend! Find out what kind of people work there by doing some stalking. Are they chill and laid-back? Are they stiff corporate types?
FOTD + OOTD: Finally, a jumpsuit
Two things I've been avoiding since forever: jumpsuits and wide-legged pants. You see, I have a short, straight torso that looks even pudgier when highlighted by wide legs and once-piece suits. It just doesn't work! However, when I spotted this wide-legged jumpsuit at NAVA in Market! Market!, I got curious enough to try it on, just to see how it would look like.
NAVA jumpsuit | Ferretti wedges | Parfois necklace | Pinkbox accessories | Tiangge belt
...and it was a great success! I got compliments when I wore it yesterday to a meeting and a Lancome event. I like how it streamlined my body and looked flattering in the right places. It cinches at the waist (well, it comes with a fabric belt that I swapped for a woven belt) so it looks like I have curves. Oh, I also LOVE how it swishes around my feet when I walk. Very dramatic.
Will definitely buy more colors! Anyway, here's the makeup I wore with it:
I thought I'd do something classic
OOTD: Bandages and leather
I got this body-hugging dress at Forever 21 some months back and I absolutely love it. However, it's too revealing chest-wise. Too tight. Sorry, I'm such an old lady. I just believe that women look better when they don't bare too much - remember this thing called mystery? Girls my age forget that they're more interesting that way.
So! I wore the dress with a thrifted leather jacket (I know, one of my best finds. Got it for only P250) and an SM necklace to cover up. I love how it turned out.

I also wore these Ferretti pumps for the first time.
Red for fall
It seems that I've been wearing some form of red in the past few weeks. It could be a lipstick, dress, shoes, and now recently, a skirt. It was unconscious but I do believe that red is my Color of the Moment!
Here's what I wore to the Human Nature event at 7th High last Friday. I should've put on something more "clubby" but I was in a major rush that evening because I thought the event was slated to start at 6pm. It started 5pm. Got there 7pm, so.

One of my best finds in a while is this Randy Ortiz x Kashieca convertible dress I got in Greenbelt 5 some weeks ago. Did I say convertible? It can be worn as a skirt, a venus cut dress, or as a tube dress. Best thing about it is that I got it at 70% off! It was originally around P2,500 but I got it for ~P700. It's an old collection, but it's definitely timeless.

I wore this look to a coffee date with a Project Vanity reader (hi Sara!) yesterday. She will be reviewing a couple of cool products for the blog soon so that's one thing I'm looking forward to.
Oh, here's my bronzy blue eyeshadow. It's a combination of Shu Uemura and Majolica Majorca colors! Patrick Alcober, one of Shu's top makeup artists, mentioned that the best way to wear blue is to mix it with brown.
OOTD: Blue and gold accents
It's been a while since I did an outfit post here. Between then and now I've quietly hoarded dresses as if there's no tomorrow. It's about time really. I don't like my clothes anymore.
Anyway! As you can see I'm still in a tan mood. The dress was a genius find from Forever 21; it works sooo well with my body type! What's nice is that it's like an LBD, it can be worn different ways with the right shoes and accessories. It's like a blank canvas one can play with.

The Nylite Project
A few weeks ago, Tretorn asked me if I wanted to participate in an international campaign called The Nylite Project. The rules were simple: they'd send me a pair of Tretorn Nylites then I am to wear it my way. Truth be told I'm not into sneakers, but I'm tickled pink by the concept of incorporating a vintage classic in my girly-preppy-sleek wardrobe.
I remember my mom wearing these exact same Tretorns in the early 90's with high rolled pants and an oversized tucked-in shirt. I'm not sure, but I may have also had a green version of these for my PE classes. LOL! Those were the days of gray cotton shorts and school-printed tees, jackstones, Pogs, and Chinese Garter. Nostalgia: commence.
Anyway, here's the outfit I came up with my new old Nylites. I got the dress and shades from Forever 21, but it was only when I got home that I realized that they look like soulmates together.
