Nivea Visage Sparkling White line: UV Blocker and Day Care

I unfortunately only have one face. Even though I want to review everything I get personally, I just can't, at the risk of breaking out continuously! Besides, it'd be great to hear from other skin types. This time, Nikki, a good friend, reviews the Nivea Visage Sparkling White Day Care and UV Blocker.

Say hello to Nikki!

I think we all know that sun protection is key to beautiful skin and living in this awesome tropical country, the sun is both a blessing and a curse! So when asked me to try Nivea's Sparkling White line, particularly the Day Cream and the UV Blocker variants, I was ready and willing!

Now, I just have to give you a background on my skin type. It sits in the very delicate balance between oiliness and dryness. You see, my skin is super oily. After putting on makeup, I oil up like a middle eastern country by two hours! But I can't skip moisturizer either because I have seborrhoeic dermatitis which means that my face gets flaky when not hydrated properly. So, you can see my dilemma: I need something that isn't heavy which may cause oiliness while at the same time, something that effectively hydrates my skin! Enter Nivea's day cream!

The Nivea Visage Sparkling White Day Cream (P315) promises to whiten and control shine, bringing out your inner glow. According to the brand, the formula has White Crystallites which help enhance the skin's radiance and White Pure Actives which prevent the formation of brown spots and uneven pigmentation even within the deeper layers of the skin. It also has Carnitine which is actually is already present in the skin and effectively regulates oil production.

What I love about it

  • The formulation is very soft and creamy, making the product easily spreadable.
  • Although it's quite thick, the formula is quickly absorbed by the skin, hydrating it while giving it a matte finish.
  • Has advanced UVA/UVB protection filters that protect the skin from harmful UV rays.
  • The long term effect on my skin has left me baffled. I feel that my face looks more radiant and smoother, I even don't use foundation as often anymore!

What I don't love about it

  • It controls oil, at least in my skin, for about 2 to 3 hours. I don't mind though because the long term effects are awesome.
  • You have to dip your finger in the jar which isn't too hygienic. I suggest using cotton buds or maybe a little spatula to get the product.

The Nivea Visage Sparkling White UV Blocker (P400) on the other hand is specifically designed for sun protection with SPF 30 PA ++ although it also promises whitening and hydration. In a world saturated with beauty products, it really gets tedious (and expensive) to slop on so much product to your face that I'm always on the look out for multi- purpose products. UV blocker and moisturizer in one? Count me in!

According to the brand, the UV Blocker is oil free and water based which means it's lightweight. As mentioned, it primarily protects your skin but also hydrates and whitens leaving your skin translucently fair and radiant!

What I love about it

  • It's indeed very lightweight and is a dream to spread on the face.
  • A little goes a long way!The pump is great because it makes it easier to control the amount of product while at the same time, leaves everything hygienic.
  • The product instantly makes my skin radiant. They weren't kidding when they said it would hydrate and show my inner glow!

What I don't love about it

  • I tend to become oilier than usual.
  • It has that sunblock-y smell which I don't mind but might annoy some other people.
  • I broke out.

In conclusion, the Day Cream has become a mainstay in my everyday regime while the UV blocker, I save for going out in the glaring sun or day trips to the beach!
