Reader question: Favorite drugstore brand

Hi everyone! What would be the BEST drugstore brand for you? :) - Paulina

Feel free to pitch in your own answer as well! I'll begin. My favorite drugstore brand, top of mind, is Revlon. I love that they come out with new products every other month, and that they try to improve on the technology they've rolled out in the past. I remember that some releases have been dire failures (remember those crappy "long-wearing" eyeshadow?) but the new Colorstay ones are pretty amazing in my book.

Revlon's Colorstay and Photoready lines are pretty extensive, and they are still expanding up to this day. Colorstay is indeed long-wearing while Photoready looks good on camera as promised. True, Revlon is quite expensive here in the Philippines but if you don't mind paying (dearly) for the convenience of finding it in most drugstores then I suppose the price is not too bad.

One other thing I LOVE about Revlon is that it's an 81-year old name that has made a mark in makeup history. It was founded in 1932 and sold only nail polish and then lipstick in the beginning. Up to this day, Revlon's polishes and lipsticks still remain some of the best out there! I would actually rather wear a Revlon nail polish than say, Orly, O.P.I, or other high end brands. Revlon is super smooth, dries considerably faster and stays on pretty well for the price.

Trendsetting vintage Revlon lipsticks are still found in the permanent line. Cherries in the Snow, Fire and Ice, and Stormy Pink (rolled out in the 50s to 60s) are easily available in any counter 60 years after they were released. They are still quite popular up to the day.

Supermodel Dorian Leigh in Revlon's iconic Ultraviolet ad ("The first really new makeup color created in years!")

"For you who love to flirt with fire..." Dorian Leigh

and Ms Leigh once again for Cherries in the Snow

Suzy Parker for Stormy Pink ("A wild and arrogant pink")

Audrey Hepburn for Revlon in the 80s, when she was about 60 years old. That caption! Also I wonder if Audrey is wearing Pink in the Afternoon there. Could be, could be.

So that's why I love Revlon even if it takes a bit of hit and miss to find really amazing products. :) I highly recommend you try their face bases, nail polish, and lipsticks. Here are some of my favorites from the brand:

Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eye Shadow Quad in Brazen - amazing neutral palette, looks great even without a base

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer - finished up a tube of this and still using it

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: Primrose and Coral Berry

Revlon Fire & Ice lipsticks

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipsticks in Pink in the Afternoon and Cherries in the Snow

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

Drugstore Darling: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain

Revlon Top Speed Fast Dry Nail Enamel  - dries super fast (15 mins) but remember to use a great top coat to prevent chipping

If you were to choose just one drugstore brand, what would you say is the best out there?
